It is now August 2025, I have been living in my van full time for 18 months. I am still extremely happy with the craftsmanship of my home in a van. I recently drove back to MI from CA, to have Drifter conduct updates, repairs and add new equipment. These folks, are truly the best people I have worked with. They are talented, kind, professional. I recommend them to everyone looking for a Van conversation! It is mid September, 2023 and I have picked up my van. I searched for 3 years for the right company to build my conversion, Drifter Vans, though 2,500 miles from my California home is the company that was willing to meet the challenges of all my customizations. My van is truly amazing. Kim and the entire team worked diligently to meet all of my customization needs. Kim was so informed on what i could and couldn't do, what the trade offs were if i choose one thing over another. And the did it. Kim and his team created a mini apartment on wheels for me. Check it out on YouTube. April, 2023, I have just started working with Driftervans, so I will update this posting as I go. So far Kim and Paul have been amazing! Right now I am mostly working with Kim. He and the entire team are so enthusiastic about the work. They build truly custom vans. I am putting them to the test. I will keep you all informed. We recently picked up our new custom van from Drifter and are incredibly pleased with the quality and customer service. We are loving it! Drifter Vans is truly a hidden gem right here in southeastern Michigan. My wife and I are lifelong Michiganders, yet somehow we had never heard of this remarkable upfitter until recently. We did literally years of research before choosing Drifter Vans to convert our Transit van. And we are so happy with our decision. The entire process went smoothly. Paul and Kim really took care of us during the entire journey. From discussing options and floor plan to designing the details to picking up and being trained on the final product, the Drifter team is top notch! After picking up the van and driving it from Detroit back to our home in San Francisco Bay Area we are convinced we made the right choice. Of course we had some questions as we settled in and Kim was always available. We have had almost two weeks sleeping and living in the van and love the final product! It kept us cool in 105 degree weather sleeping on the streets of St Louis. And it enabled us to shower after major hikes in Kings Canyon National Park. Plus we had a great kitchen to make Mojitos. It took me a year to find a van builder. When I had my first conversation with Paul, I knew I had found the right company. I was impressed by his confidence and integrity. His partner, Kim was accessible during every step of the build process, making suggestions, always concerned with long term maintenance. The designer, Lauren, was a pro and a delight to work with. When I picked up my van, (Padmani), I was able to meet the team and they truly are a team! I was impressed with their attention to detail as each van requires on the job problem-solving. Even though I had owned a van previously, it was a whole new learning curve since it had systems I was not familiar with. Kim was available & extremely patient during those first few days. I cannot imagine better van built builders!
