The service department and technicians are extremely knowledgeable and clearly take pride in their work. They took the time to explain everything thoroughly and made sure I felt confident and comfortable with the service and features of my RV. It’s refreshing to work with a team that genuinely cares about customer satisfaction. On top of the excellent service, their pricing is very competitive compared to other RV sales and service centers I researched. You truly get great value without sacrificing quality. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable RV sales or service. I will absolutely continue doing business with them in the future.
We purchased a fifth-wheel camper from General RV last year and were upsold on some slide-out awnings. They were not cheap, and now, almost a year after getting the trailer, we found a huge puddle of water under our couch. the awning on the one slide-out is not sized properly, and the water rolls off onto the top of the window and into the camper through the wall. I have reached out to General RV and have yet to get a response. Sad for the money we spent on this trailer and the add-ons, I would expect better customer service. update So, after the review, I received a call from General RV offering to make the repairs and arrange for the trailer to be fixed. It was close to the end of the season and we did not want to give up the last few weeks at the campground, so we made a deal to take it them once the season was over. The end of the season comes, and no response again, a month and a half later, and they want to know who is paying for the repairs. That was mid-November, and here we are, end of January, and again, no response to emails.
Do not I repeat do not but the ECP coating. This is snake oil and you will have to jump through hoops to try to get anything done about the exterior of your vehicle. Keep the money and take care of the exterior yourself. This will not stop black streaks and they will tell you to file a warranty. I guarantee they did not put a product on. When I called corporate to make a complaint they knew I was asking about the ECP before I could even mention it. So that tells me they get people calling and complaining about it all the time. Again they are turning into Camping World where they dont care about the customers. They only want to steal your money. I told them if they do not take care of this I will not be purchasing from General RV again. Their corporate customer care told me we hear that all the time.
What started As a horrible experience At the Huntley, Illinois location, Was completely turned around by the Service Manager, Thomas Hartman. After Dealing with the Horrible, Cold, Uncaring, now that You Bought your RV. I’m not in the business to comp you anything for your 2026 RV issues! I’m talking about - Yes You Operations Manager, Mike Ruth! I went to Thomas Hartman! Thomas went above & beyond to meet my needs, Completing every repair that was needed on my brand New 2026, East To West Entrada. Yes, you’re reading correctly. It’s 2025 and I bought a 2026. I believe Justin, who is the parts manager he sits by the desk as you walk in that door also went above & beyond to help me as I was leaving my last visit. But my true kudos goes to Thomas Hartman, his attention to detail, Wonderful communication skills, Are absolutely outstanding! Thomas should truly be the operations manager as he knows how to treat customers who have paid over $100,000 for an RV. Everyone in this building should learn from Thomas Hartman! I will Never deal with anyone else in this location other than Thomas Hartman or Justin if Thomas is not available. If Only every customer That walked through your doorscould talk with Thomas Hartman, you would probably have a lot more better reviews! This man deserves a raise. He deserves a better position and he should be the one in charge of everyone. I’m saying this from the experience I had Received 4 different times my RV went in prior to meeting Thomas Hartman. When you are treated like Crap, you do not forget! When you are treated with kindness understanding and care, you also do not forget and you remember this person and you want them to Receive the credit they deserve! That’s what I’m doing for Thomas Hartman! He is truly an asset to this company! I wish there were more Thomas Hartman’s in the world because today’s individuals are cold and uncaring. Yet Thomas Hartman is extremely caring and understand to your situation when you explain it to him. He doesn’t just push you aside like everyone else does, he promptly helps you and takes care of you. This is what happened in my case once he met me. Sad it took me Havingto walk into the center of a managers meeting on a Monday morning to find out who he was and meet him personally. This was probably the smartest, best decision I ever made! The people in the waiting room could not believe I did this. I knew if I didn’t. I would never meet this man and never get my issues resolved. So Thomas Hartman shout out to you for all you have done to repair my RV and get it back on the road so I can feel safe and confident when traveling! I truly hope somebody acknowledges this review and gives you a raise or a promotion to a better and bigger position because you truly deserve it! Thank you, Thomas Hartman!
