The Airstream Interstate 19 vs 24GT choice comes down to length. The 2027 Interstate 19GT and 24GT share the same 208-horsepower diesel, AWD and 10.3 kWh lithium battery, and both sleep two. The 24GT is 5 feet 1 inch longer, adds three belted seats, a bigger bed, fridge and tanks, and costs $35,000 more.

How this comparison was made

Every figure in this comparison comes from Airstream's own pages: the 2027 Interstate 19GT and 24GT model pages, the specification page linked from each and Airstream's touring coach lineup page, all read on 20 October 2026. No coach was driven or inspected for this article, so it compares published specifications only, not how either coach feels on the road.

Airstream's touring coach lineup lists four Interstate 19 versions, the 19X, 19GT, 19GTX and 19X LE Outland Edition, and four Interstate 24 versions, the 24GL, 24GT, 24GLX and 24GTX. This article compares the 19GT with the 24GT because they are the same GT version in the two lengths. Airstream describes the 19GTX and 24GTX as versions of the 19GT and 24GT with adventure-ready design upgrades and the same comfort inside; they are not covered here.

Prices are the starting prices Airstream shows on each model page. Options, freight, dealer charges, taxes and registration can all change what you pay, so ask the dealer for a written out-the-door price on the exact coach.

Price: what the extra $35,000 buys

The 2027 Interstate 24GT starts at $285,900, which is $35,000 more than the $250,900 starting price of the 2027 Interstate 19GT. Both coaches share the same engine, transmission, AWD, battery, inverter, induction cooktop, two 24-inch TVs and warranty, and both have a space-saving wet bath. Most of what the extra money buys is space, along with some different equipment: air ride suspension instead of the 19GT's Fox shocks, and diesel-fired hydronic heat instead of its Truma furnace.

On Airstream's spec pages, the 24GT adds:

  • 5 feet 1 inch of length and a 26-inch longer wheelbase.
  • Three more belted seats, with up to 7 against up to 4.
  • A larger bed, at 70 by 82 inches against 66 by 72 inches.
  • A 6.6 cubic foot refrigerator, more than double the 19GT's 3.2 cubic feet.
  • Larger fresh, gray and waste tanks, and 400 watts of solar against 240 watts.
  • A 14 ft 6 in power awning instead of the 19GT's 10 ft awning.

Size, chassis and parking

The Interstate 19GT is the easier coach to park, at 19 feet 5 inches long on a 144-inch wheelbase, against 24 feet 6 inches on a 170-inch wheelbase for the 24GT. Both are 7 feet 8.5 inches wide with mirrors and have the same 5-foot-10-inch interior width.

The two coaches sit on different Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. The 19GT uses the Sprinter 2500, and the 24GT uses the Sprinter 3500 Extended. Airstream lists Fox 2.5-inch PES shocks and struts on the 19GT and air ride suspension on the 24GT. The 24GT's spec page also lists optional hydraulic leveling jacks; the 19GT's spec page does not list leveling jacks.

Height is close. The 19GT is 9 feet 11 inches tall with its air conditioner, 2 inches taller than the 24GT at 9 feet 9 inches. Interior height is 6 feet 2.5 inches in the 19GT and 6 feet 2.25 inches in the 24GT.

Do the engines differ?

The engines do not differ. Both coaches use a Mercedes-Benz 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder high-output diesel rated at 208 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, a 9G-TRONIC Plus automatic and AWD. Both have a 24.5-gallon fuel tank, and Airstream gives both the same estimate of 16 to 18-plus mpg on the highway.

Weight, payload and towing

The 24GT can carry more, with a net carrying capacity of 1,607 pounds against 1,223 pounds for the 19GT. Net carrying capacity is the GVWR minus the unit base weight, so it is the room left for people, water, gear and any options added after the coach was weighed.

Weight ratingInterstate 19GTInterstate 24GT
Unit base weight7,827 lb9,423 lb
GVWR9,050 lb11,030 lb
Net carrying capacity1,223 lb1,607 lb
GCWR13,930 lb15,250 lb
Tow capacityUp to 5,000 lbUp to 5,000 lb
Hitch weight500 lb500 lb

Both coaches come with a Mercedes-Benz hitch, a 7-pin trailer plug and brake control pre-wiring, according to Airstream. The gross combined weight rating (GCWR) is the most the coach and trailer may weigh together. With the coach loaded to its GVWR, the GCWR leaves 4,880 pounds for a trailer behind the 19GT and 4,220 pounds behind the 24GT, both below the 5,000-pound tow capacity. Weigh the loaded coach before choosing a trailer, and stay within every rating.

Sleeping, seating and living space

Both coaches sleep up to two people on a power rear sofa and ottoman that converts to a bed, but the 24GT's bed is larger at 70 by 82 inches, against 66 by 72 inches in the 19GT. The 24GT also has up to seven belted seating positions, against up to four in the 19GT.

The 24GT's extra seats matter most for day trips with friends or family who will not sleep aboard, since neither coach sleeps more than two. For a couple traveling alone, the 19GT's four belted seats leave two spare.

The dining setup differs too. The 19GT has one Lagun adjustable swivel table. The 24GT has two pedestal tables and two Lagun modular tables with four mounting positions inside and outside, plus a built-in work station behind the driver's seat.

Galley, bathroom and storage

The 24GT has the bigger galley, with a 6.6 cubic foot refrigerator and a 1.2 cubic foot drawer microwave, against a 3.2 cubic foot refrigerator and a 0.7 cubic foot locker microwave in the 19GT. Both refrigerators run on 12 volts and include a freezer, and both coaches cook on a 1,000-watt single-burner induction cooktop.

Airstream lists a pantry with built-in drawers and shelves in the 24GT. The 19GT instead lists a galley extension pull-out shelf. Both coaches have overhead storage and underbed interior storage.

Both bathrooms are listed with the same equipment. Each coach has a space-saving wet bath with a foot-flush toilet, a removable handheld shower head, a sink with an articulated mirror and an exhaust fan, and both empty their holding tanks through a macerator pump system.

Off-grid power, tanks and heating

Both coaches carry the same 10.3 kWh lithium battery with a built-in heater, a 3,000-watt pure sine Xantrex inverter, a 311-amp alternator and 30-amp shore power, with an optional 17.2 kWh Advanced Power Plus upgrade. The 24GT has more solar, at 400 watts (100 watts on the chassis and 300 watts on the house) against 240 watts on the 19GT.

The 24GT's gray tank is half again as large as the 19GT's, at 24 gallons against 16, which matters for showers and dishwashing between dump stops. Both coaches have heated fresh and gray tanks, and both run their heat and hot water from one system: a Truma Combi Eco Plus furnace in the 19GT and a diesel-fired hydronic system in the 24GT.

Which one should you buy?

The Interstate 19GT suits buyers who put parking and city driving first and travel as one or two people, while the 24GT suits buyers who want more room, more seats and more capacity for longer trips. Use these checks to decide:

  • Parking and storage: measure your driveway, garage or storage space. The 19GT is 19 feet 5 inches long and the 24GT is 24 feet 6 inches.
  • Passengers: if you regularly carry more than four people, only the 24GT has the belted seats, with up to seven.
  • Trip length: the 24GT has more than double the refrigerator space, a 24-gallon gray tank against 16 gallons, and 400 watts of solar against 240 watts. Fresh water differs by only 3 gallons.
  • Payload: add up people, water and gear. The 19GT has 1,223 pounds of net carrying capacity and the 24GT has 1,607 pounds.
  • Budget: the 24GT starts $35,000 higher, before options and dealer charges.
