Just wanted to share my experience with Hamlin Lake Marine (HLM). I’m 56 yrs old & got my boating license before I got my drivers license…suffice it to say I’ve been around boats & marinas most of my life. This past July 2025, I dropped off my 1993 Mastercraft 205 Prostar 2 weeks before our vacation up north. My Mastercraft has been a very reliable boat but recently was bogging down when on plane & then would not start. HLM took it out for a sea trial & determined that the problem was the fuel pump. They called (within the 2 week period) & told me it was fixed & I could pick it up. I pulled it back to the lake & ran it out to find that it still had the same problem. The next morning I took it back to HLM & communicated that it wasn’t fixed & thought well, perhaps they can re-fix the boat in a couple days & we’d have our boat back for half of our vacation. Nope. They called the following week & said they suspect it was the carburetor that was the problem. They ordered a rebuilt carburetor & installed it (which took 3-4 weeks). I called HLM nearly every day for an update as I felt it was taking far too long. They sea trialed the boat with the new rebuilt carburetor installed & it still was having the same problem. Then HLM noticed the fuel line may perhaps be the problem. HLM proceeded to put a new fuel line in and the boat ran as it should. I was left wondering if HLM would have checked the fuel line first, I could have saved myself the cost, time & sea trial of a fuel pump and the cost, time and half the sea trial of the rebuilt carburetor. My boat is finally fixed, I paid for it over the phone & asked if they could leave it out for me to pick up that weekend, they said sure, we’ll have it waiting for you. I showed up that weekend with a car full of boys wanting to ski & tube but the boat was locked inside their facility. I guess they just accidentally forgot. My first invoice is dated 07/23/2025. My final invoice was dated 09/10/2025. I was able to finally pick my boat up last weekend 09/27/2025. I have 3 invoices of which my first & last name are spelled incorrectly 3 different ways 3 different times. If you, as a consumer think this is good service or want to be treated as I’ve described, bring your boat to HLM. If what I’ve described sounds like a boat-owners nightmare, it was…save yourself, the time, the cost & frustration and do yourself a favor & bring your boat ANYWHERE OTHER THAN Hamlin Lake Marine.
Went to drop our boat off to have the prop replaced on our way out of town on Sunday late afternoon. Mike was there when we were dropping it, came over checked it out and said he could replace it right now! Amazing customer service that went way above and beyond. Definitely earned new customers. Finding great customer service is challenging today. We went to several of the "big guys" in town for some help with our boat. They didn't laugh in our face but told us it would be 4 weeks before they could look at it. They didn't care. Hamlin marine not only looked at our boat but had us up and running in less than 24 hours. Great people, great business. You guys are fantastic, you saved our vacation. Thank you!
I had a problem with my fancy Minnkota gps trolling motor .. I called here to see how far out the were to getting to it . A very pleasant young lady by the name of Pam answered and said about 3 weeks out. I agreed to the wait and she put me on the list . She called me every few days to keep me informed and actually was able to get me in earlier then I expected. When I got there she introduced me to Mike who was the technician overseeing my fix. He was very confident snd asked questions. I also had a few other small things needed done and he said no problem. They said it would take 2-3 days. So my wife and I decided to visit the city of Ludington and about 4 hours later got a call from Pam and said my boat was done 😳. When she told me the cost I told her she was crazy ! They were about $150 dollars LESS then I expected. These people were kind/friendly and communicated very well with me !!! I will take all of my business to them whether it be boat or snowmobile related !!!!!!!
We bought a new Bentley Pontoon and were very impressed with the whole process, service and follow through was great. Total teamwork here, good job Chase, Pam and Mike!!
