Shopping for a vehicle at Blasius Auto Group in Waterbury, Connecticut? Follow these steps to buy with confidence.
Pull the vehicle history report
Run a CARFAX or AutoCheck report using the VIN before you visit. Look for accident history, odometer rollbacks, and title brands like salvage or flood. Ask Blasius Auto Group if a report is available for any listing.
Take a thorough test drive
Drive on both city streets and the highway. Accelerate hard. Brake firmly. Listen for any clunks, vibrations, or warning lights. Test the AC, heat, and all electronics during the drive.
Inspect for hidden wear
Check for uneven panel gaps, mismatched paint, or overspray — signs of past bodywork. Push on each corner of the car to test the shocks. Look underneath for frame damage, fluid leaks, or rust.
Get a pre-purchase inspection
Have a trusted mechanic inspect any used vehicle before you buy. A $100–$150 PPI can uncover issues that save you thousands. Ask Blasius Auto Group if a third-party inspection is permitted.
Negotiate the out-the-door price
Focus on the total out-the-door price, not the monthly payment. Understand every fee on the sales contract before signing. Dealer add-ons like paint protection and VIN etching are negotiable at Blasius Auto Group.
Auto financing is competitive. A little preparation before visiting Blasius Auto Group in Waterbury, Connecticut puts you in a stronger position.
Typical Loan Terms

We had a great experience with the purchase of our 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport at Blasius Auto Group. The whole process went smoothly and our sales associate, Chris McDonough was extremely friendly and professional. I would highly recommend Blasius for anyone looking to purchase a pre owned vehicle. They have a great selection of quality vehicles and are on point with their pricing.
I recently purchased a vehicle for my daughter, and the salesman (Sebastian Mannix) was truly the kindest, most helpful individual I’ve come across in a long time. He was amazing. He made the process enjoyable and easy from start to finish. Best salesman ever! If anyone needs to get a car - do yourself a favor and ask for Sebastian.
We purchased a 2025 Malibu LT2 from Blasius Auto Group with Austin Callaway as our salesman. Austin was professional, knowledgeable and had great communication skills. He sat with us in the car and reviewed the options, navigation and My Chevrolet app. This car was a bit hard to locate and I felt he bent over backwards to make it happen. We feel this dealership is exceptionally organized. This is our second car purchased from them and we are very happy with the experience.
BUYER BEWARE: AVOID BLASIUS PREOWNED AT ALL COSTS This is my first-ever business review, and I don’t write them lightly. I believe in giving businesses the benefit of the doubt, but my experience with Blasius Preowned requires complete transparency to warn potential buyers. If you value your time, money, or sanity, stay far away from Blasius Preowned. They are the epitome of an untrustworthy business that plays games with their customers and lacks any semblance of integrity. I had been searching for a specific 2022 truck trim and came across one with 61k miles at Blasius Preowned. It was listed at a reasonable price, so I went for a test drive. The truck seemed fine—until I discovered a junkyard engine in it. When I questioned this during the sale, I was assured that everything was in perfect working condition and that the third-party service contract I purchased would cover anything that went wrong. Spoiler alert: everything went wrong. Less than a week after purchasing the truck, disaster struck. While driving to and from work for few days after purchase, I noticed strange issues while driving and discovered a massive pile of oil under the truck. A GMC dealer inspection revealed: • A broken CV axle • A severe transfer case transmission fluid leak that left the truck drenched in transmission fluid I brought the truck back to Blasius under their 60-day dealer warranty, only to learn that the technician who had supposedly inspected the truck before sale had been fired days earlier. Things went from bad to worse when the ENGINE blew—while on their property! I demanded a full refund, giving them one last chance to make things right before involving a lawyer and the state of Connecticut. Instead of taking responsibility, they held me hostage with shady tactics. They refused a refund and insisted they needed to repair the truck before offering trade-in credit—but only within their auto group. The truck was unsafe to drive, and I shudder to think what could have happened if the engine had blown while I was driving it home. Their solution? Replace the engine with a remanufactured one but try to charge it to the service contract company instead of honoring their own dealer warranty. When the service contract company denied the claim due to timing, Blasius pretended they would cover the cost, only for me to find out later that GMC paid for it under warranty. When the truck was finally returned to me with the “new” engine, it sounded like it was misfiring at idle and also experiencing transmission issues. Their answer was to pressure me into trading it for another truck—at a worse trim level—while demanding an extra $10k down payment to make it same monthly payment that I had. I was forced to settle for less than I originally wanted, losing thousands of dollars and wasting over two and a half months dealing with their incompetence. To make matters worse, even their service department admitted I had a bad experience. That’s right—the very people who were supposed to ensure my truck was safe acknowledged how poorly the situation was handled, yet no one took accountability to fix things properly. Blasius Preowned did not lose a dime in this debacle, but I lost thousands of dollars, time, and trust. They are the kind of business that takes advantage of their customers and hides behind empty promises. Their motto is “where friends send friends.” Well, I’ll tell you this: friends DO NOT send friends to Blasius Preowned. They will never see another dollar from me or anyone I know. Consider this your warning: stay far away.
Reviews are important and entertaining. I find myself spending a lot of time reviewing them. Overall our experience with Blasius was about a 4. The dealership was insanely busy when we went to look at a Chevy Tahoe on Saturday, which was nice to see and likely speaks to the reputation of the dealership. We did have an appointment at 2:15 with a salesperson we had emailed with and were greeted minutes later. Due to the volume of the dealership this person politely introduced us to Patrick. He was great, patient and reassuring. We had driven over 2 hours to see this Tahoe that we ultimately ended up purchasing. I had to return back to the dealership on Monday (I foolishly forgot to bring the title to my existing vehicle) and was in a time crunch. Patrick did the best to make sure I stayed within my time constraints. My star review is NOT about the salesperson or related to our overall experience. The stars reflect that fact that we just spend a decent amount of money on a vehicle that the dealership sold me with 1/4 of a tank of gas. When I asked about this on Saturday it was a “we will get some gas”. When I picked it up Monday I got “we don’t do that for used cars”. If I had time I would have waited and had them remove their dealership placard from the back of my new vehicle as compensation for the nearly empty gas tank. The tires were also missing the caps on the air valves- simple things that make a big difference to a customer. It truly felt like once the sale was made these minor details didn’t matter and up to us to deal with it.
