Shopping for a vehicle at Big 1 in Brownstown Township, Michigan? Follow these steps to buy with confidence.
Pull the vehicle history report
Run a CARFAX or AutoCheck report using the VIN before you visit. Look for accident history, odometer rollbacks, and title brands like salvage or flood. Ask Big 1 if a report is available for any listing.
Take a thorough test drive
Drive on both city streets and the highway. Accelerate hard. Brake firmly. Listen for any clunks, vibrations, or warning lights. Test the AC, heat, and all electronics during the drive.
Inspect for hidden wear
Check for uneven panel gaps, mismatched paint, or overspray — signs of past bodywork. Push on each corner of the car to test the shocks. Look underneath for frame damage, fluid leaks, or rust.
Get a pre-purchase inspection
Have a trusted mechanic inspect any used vehicle before you buy. A $100–$150 PPI can uncover issues that save you thousands. Ask Big 1 if a third-party inspection is permitted.
Negotiate the out-the-door price
Focus on the total out-the-door price, not the monthly payment. Understand every fee on the sales contract before signing. Dealer add-ons like paint protection and VIN etching are negotiable at Big 1.
Auto financing is competitive. A little preparation before visiting Big 1 in Brownstown Township, Michigan puts you in a stronger position.
Typical Loan Terms
48 to 72 months is most common. Shorter terms cost less in total interest.
Down Payment
10% to 20% down reduces your monthly payment and improves your loan terms.

Sunday I emailed them to look at a few cars I was interested Brian called me as soon as they opened I went up there, test drove both cars and chose the one I liked more. I purchased the car and Brian was so amazing offered me a drink while we got everything taken care of. I did notice the tail light was busted and while I was at the bank getting the check Brian ordered the part and told me as soon as it comes in he will call me and then also install it for me. I will definitely be recommending him to anyone who is looking for a car and whenever I decide to get a new one I will be back again. Edit: I haven’t had the time to redo this 0 stars I bought this car outright didn’t owe anything less than a month later the check engine light came on come to find out the car needed a new engine and the exhaust was bad I spent $8,000 plus on this car originally to get the work that needed to be done would be an extra $9,000 I would rather buy a new car and with what I would have spent I could have got a new car while yes the sales man was really nice I get why they don’t care they do what they can to make the car look presentable but after a couple weeks you’ll see they are definitely messing with the car to show it looks good while your test driving but as soon as you buy it turns into a lot of problems
Found a car on cars.com and messaged Brian. He gave me all the pertinent info so me and my wife drove the 45 mins to look at it. It was everything he said it was and a little more (he neglected to tell me about the panoramic roof, a huge plus). We couldn't write the check fast enough. Honest and fair pricing. 10/10 will recommend friends and family in search of a good used car. Thank you Brian.
STAY FAR AWAY! Dealerships have a bad reputation because of companies like this. I purchased a car owned by this dealership. As soon as I returned home, my son stated there was white smoke coming from the exhaust. It was a cold day, so felt that it was nothing out of the ordinary. However, I noticed there was again white smoke coming from the exhaust. Took it to a few shops, and all said the same thing: bad head gasket. Unfortunately, Big 1 Auto Sales changed the oil before I bought it to mask the head gasket issue. I spoke on the phone, and was directed to the general manager "Ken". Basically told me "tough luck". He actually hung up the phone mid conversation, and when I called back, he sarcastically said "Sorry I thought that was your last question." Please stay away from this dealership, they are very dishonest people and will unfortunately cost me thousands of more dollars. Ken also works at Martin's Tire & Sales on Telegraph. This is my first review being posted on here, because usually when I get screwed I turn the other cheek and forgive. But the blatant dishonesty and disrespect led me to post this. I hope Ken knows what a financial burden he is costing my family, of whom we are already struggling.
Really should've read the reviews before I made a purchase out of desperation. 1 month into this vehicle and its already in the shop and of course the $2700 warranty i was sold doesn't cover it. Now im $500 out of pocket not to mention all 4 tires need replace. All 4 have slow leaks. When I called about this warranty....I just get the....sorry about that BS ! Never will I buy from here and I highly recommend you dont either. Once they have your money they no longer care. Dont let ths nice guy act fool you like it did me! If I could give a negative rating I would!!
Thank you for the great service. I will definitely use this lot again for my car needs. Very knowledgeable and personable. I did not feel pressured to make a buy. Wonderful experience . Just bought my second car from Brian always superior service go see Brian you won't regret the service you will receive
