Shopping for a vehicle at 82nd Auto Mall in Portland, Oregon? Follow these steps to buy with confidence.
Pull the vehicle history report
Run a CARFAX or AutoCheck report using the VIN before you visit. Look for accident history, odometer rollbacks, and title brands like salvage or flood. Ask 82nd Auto Mall if a report is available for any listing.
Take a thorough test drive
Drive on both city streets and the highway. Accelerate hard. Brake firmly. Listen for any clunks, vibrations, or warning lights. Test the AC, heat, and all electronics during the drive.
Inspect for hidden wear
Check for uneven panel gaps, mismatched paint, or overspray — signs of past bodywork. Push on each corner of the car to test the shocks. Look underneath for frame damage, fluid leaks, or rust.
Get a pre-purchase inspection
Have a trusted mechanic inspect any used vehicle before you buy. A $100–$150 PPI can uncover issues that save you thousands. Ask 82nd Auto Mall if a third-party inspection is permitted.
Negotiate the out-the-door price
Focus on the total out-the-door price, not the monthly payment. Understand every fee on the sales contract before signing. Dealer add-ons like paint protection and VIN etching are negotiable at 82nd Auto Mall.
Auto financing is competitive. A little preparation before visiting 82nd Auto Mall in Portland, Oregon puts you in a stronger position.
Typical Loan Terms
48 to 72 months is most common. Shorter terms cost less in total interest.
Down Payment
10% to 20% down reduces your monthly payment and improves your loan terms.

Greatest experience at a car dealership. Jimmy and his crew treat you with respect and work hard for the best payment. Hands down 5 stars. No pressure buying
This dealership was very elegant in the process of purchasing my first vehicle. The customer service was fast and efficient. And the staff was very professional. I was given a reasonable price for a car that runs and drives amazing. Highly recommend calling Jimmy!
Ťreated me like I was family and went out of their way to get me into a car that "I wanted" not one they wanted to sell. They were very helpful and reassuring when it came to making a decision to buy a car. I would and will keep coming back for Any future cars My thanks to everyone there. You all made my day and dream come true. THANK YOU!!!
Definitely a strong “stay far away” warning on this one. We're willing to revisit this if they try to work with us, it's not too late, but that's not looking likely. We bought a car this summer for $5k that was represented as being in good condition and reliable; the salesman was gushing over it. The check engine light came on literally the same day we bought it. Things only deteriorated from there. Right off the bat it required $4k in repairs to remain safely operational - just about everything was breaking or leaking. We reached out to the dealership to see if they would work with us (come on - the same DAY we buy it?); they indicated they would help somehow. So we approved the repairs - and then they ghosted us. So now we’re out $9k on this car (plus the money we had to drop on a rental for the week it was out of commission). Want to guess how long it lasted after that? 7 weeks. Then the clutch went out - entirely. Died on I-5. Completely inoperable. Had to get it towed. Quote for repairs: nearly $3k. “As is” in used car sales still doesn’t cover negligence or fraud under Oregon consumer protection laws (UTPA). We sent them a letter outlining this, all the repairs, etc., suggesting several reasonable remedies to make it right. No response. So now it's with the Better Business Bureau and Oregon DOJ consumer complaints division - still no response. Will see what comes next. I would never, ever recommend this place to anyone. It's been a stressful, expensive nightmare.
*It has now come to my attention that the owner is claiming this review is a fake. I can reassure you it is not. The friends I am mentioning in this post even had them tow this car back to their lot and they left voicemails saying they wanted my review taken down, along with calling my friend an idiot via voicemail. Terrible business owners, unprofessional and they basically run a scam car lot. Save your time and go to a good & reputable dealership.* A friend purchased a car, moments after pulling off the lot almost everything in the vehicle started falling apart. Speedometer stopped working, multiple check engine issues and something underneath the car started hanging. THESE PEOPLE ARE FRAUDS. Don’t purchase cars from them.
