Expert Reviewer Program — credentialed professionals in marine, RV, automotive, and powersports

Who we are

Searchshop is a small independent media network founded in 2023, based in Jacksonville, Florida. Our sites — Searchshop.com, ShopRVGear.com, TopBoatGear.com, and RVGearInsider.com — cover marine, RV, automotive, and powersports.

We're not a content mill. We don't fake editorial teams and we don't publish buying advice that hasn't been vetted by someone who knows the field. Our full editorial standards and testing methodology are public. Read them before applying — they're the kind of standards we want contributors to share.

What "Reviewed by" means — and what it doesn't

When you see "Reviewed by [Name, Credential]" on an article, it means a credentialed professional in that field has read the content, verified that the technical claims are accurate, flagged anything inaccurate or misleading, and approved it for publication.

It does not mean the reviewer personally purchased and tested every product mentioned. Think of it the way a technical editor works at a trade publication, or a peer reviewer on a journal article — their job is to validate that the information is technically sound, based on expertise they've spent years building.

What the reviewer is attesting to

  • Technical claims are accurate
  • Safety guidance is sound
  • Nothing is misleading or omitted
  • They'd stand behind this with their name on it

What is not required

  • Personally purchasing every product
  • Hands-on testing of each item listed
  • Brand relationships with manufacturers
  • Writing the article from scratch

An ASE master tech reviewing a brake guide doesn't rebuild every caliper mentioned. A USCG captain reviewing an anchoring guide doesn't need to have used every anchor brand in the article. What matters is that their expertise validates the content — the same standard applied by medical reviewers at Healthline, technical editors at Popular Mechanics, or credentialed reviewers at any serious trade publication.

How it works

We do the writing. You provide the expertise.

What we do

  • Research the topic, build the outline, and draft the article
  • Fact-check against primary sources (manufacturer specs, USCG/NHTSA/CPSC databases, owner manuals)
  • Format, optimize, and publish
  • Promote and maintain the article over time

What you do (per article)

  • Read the draft (typically 1,500–2,500 words)
  • Flag anything technically wrong, misleading, or missing
  • Send back corrections — a few notes are fine, you don't have to rewrite
  • Approve for publication
Realistic time: 20–40 minutes per article. If a draft needs more than that to fix, we revise it ourselves and resend.

What you get

In exchange for your expertise and name.

1

Dofollow byline link

On every article you've reviewed, the byline reads "Reviewed by [Your Name], [Your Credential]" with a clickable dofollow link to your website, LinkedIn, or business. Permanent.

2

Permanent author page

A real public bio at searchshop.com/authors/[your-slug] — your photo, credentials, business link, and a running list of every article you've reviewed.

3

Revenue share

10% of net affiliate commissions from links on articles you've reviewed, paid quarterly. Starts small; compounds as articles index and traffic grows.

4

Network reach

Articles appear across our four-site network covering marine, RV, automotive, and powersports — reaching buyers actively researching purchases in your field.

The revenue share — honestly

The first 90 days are typically $0–$50/quarter as articles index. Reviewers who stay engaged and cover 15–20 articles in well-performing categories generally see $100–$500/quarter by month 12. We share full per-article statements — clicks, conversions, commission, your share — so you can verify everything. The byline and backlink value is immediate; the revenue is the long game.

Who we're looking for

You qualify if you can document one of these credentials:

Marine & Boating

  • USCG-licensed captains (any tonnage)
  • ABYC-certified marine technicians
  • Certified marine surveyors (SAMS/NAMS)

  • RV industry consultants (10+ years)
  • Experienced RV journalists

  • Specialists in towing, 4WD, EVs, trucks

Powersports

  • MSF-certified instructors
  • Experienced powersports journalists

Outdoor / Crossover

  • WFR/WEMT, AMGA guides
  • Certified diving instructors, USPA jumpmasters
  • Engineers/designers with brand-side experience

Not on this list but think you fit? Apply and tell us why.

Our standards (read before applying)

We don't work with reviewers who:

  • ✕Approve drafts they cannot technically vouch for. You're not required to have personally tested every product — but you are required to only approve content you believe is accurate based on your professional knowledge.
  • ✕Have undisclosed financial relationships with covered brands.
  • ✕Submit wholesale AI-generated opinions as genuine technical review.

Frequently asked

A note from the editor

Most affiliate content online is written by people who've never seen the product, approved by fake editorial teams, and ranked by commission rate. I want Searchshop to be the opposite — content that's actually useful to someone who's about to spend $40,000 on a boat or $80,000 on an RV.

The Expert Reviewer Program exists because the people whose opinions actually matter — captains, inspectors, master techs — aren't looking for a writing job. They're looking for a way to put their expertise on the record, send buyers toward their business, and earn a passive income stream that doesn't require more of their time as it grows. That's what this is.

If that sounds like you, apply. I read every application personally and reply within 5 business days.

Write for Searchshop — Expert Reviewer Program

Searchshop is a multi-vertical vehicle marketplace and independent media network covering RVs, boats, cycles, ATVs, autos, and powersports. We partner with credentialed professionals — USCG captains, NRVIA inspectors, ASE master technicians, and experienced journalists — to publish accurate, expert-reviewed content.

Our Expert Reviewer Program is built for working professionals who want searchable proof of their expertise online. Reviewers receive a permanent dofollow byline on every article they review, a public author page at searchshop.com/authors, and a 10% revenue share on affiliate commissions earned by their articles.

Reviewers verify the technical accuracy of articles in their field — they are not required to have personally tested every product mentioned, but they must be able to vouch for the accuracy of the content based on their professional expertise. We verify every credential before publishing. All contributors are non-exclusive and retain full portfolio rights.
