We rented a Cruise America 19’ Compact Camper from the Manassas/Warrenton storefront for a trip out west for two adults, we’re both in our early 60’s. It was a little intimidating at first as the vehicle was boxy like a U-Haul but it was roomy and comfortable inside and the F350 drove like a champ. The only problem we encountered was a failed furnace but the company was able to solution it for us at the RV garage in Yellowstone NP. We listed the pros: F350 is a workhorse Roomy! Reliable Self contained KOA Partnership -EVERY state we traveled! GPS on vehicle Regular gas Fridge runs on Propane Plenty of charging ports for devices Good sized stow storage on outside of vehicle Onboard generator for emergencies Good solution system for furnace failure No problem parking the size of the vehicle Great for napping and road breaks/meals Great problem solving service and network coast to coast for mechanical issues And cons: Hard for me to get up into the F350 without a step 10 mpg on gas Short on leg room in driver seat Cab-over bunk LOUD!! No Car Play/Navigation System No remote keyfob No mirror on sun shades Over all, it was a fantastic experience and we would do it again! We’re already planning our trip to Cali next year.
Rented a compact RV here. The vehicle was adequate with only minor concerns...the holding tank sensors were an issue. The staff was great and efficient both for checkout and checking. If I travel by RV again, I would trust them to provide a vehicle.
The staff people in Manassas were friendly, competent, and efficient. We had to bring our camper back for a minor repair and they had us in and out very quickly. They also credited us for one day out of our 7-day rental because we did not have full use of the bathroom the entire time. This brings me to the quality of the vehicle itself. We had water on the floor of the bathroom the entire time. It was clean, not soapy, so not due to our failure to empty the grey water tank, which we did regularly, and which always had way more water than we had possibly used. We theorize a problem with a gasket somewhere that was causing city water to flow into the grey water tank and overflow into the bathroom up the drain. It sounds like something that could go undetected relatively easily, so we were annoyed but not suspicious. But when we returned our vehicle we encountered two other customers who were returning vehicles that also had problems -- a poorly-functioning fridge in one and non-functioning a/c in the other (plus other problems that resulted in having to switch vehicles). Maintenance thus appears to be a systemic issue for the company, and that makes me reluctant to rent from them again.
Overall positive experience. We rented a standard size RV for about a week and drove it from VA to KY to a campground. Booking and pickup was easy and the rep did a good job of walking me through the RV's systems. They also include a thick manual in the RV that was really helpful. The RV was clean and somewhat modern. A few signs of wear, but to be expected with a rental. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. The main bed in the back had a new, really nice mattress. Air conditioner worked great. We had to turn it down one night because we got cold! The RV had about 90k miles but drove fine. No major mechanical issues. We did have an issue with the water system and could not use a water hookup. Using the pump and water tank worked, so mild inconvenience. Also had a leak in the gray water tank. Didn't impact us but it was easy to spot and should've been caught earlier. This was not a cheap rental, but I think this is the main game in town unless you want to go the RV Share route (which we didn't, since this was our first rental). For folks that want a rental, this was a fine option.
Good first-time compact RV road trip around Shenandoah National Park. Service from staff was great, kind and informative. They gave us proper training on how to use the RV. It was pretty clean, but completely empty...pack it in, pack it out! Didn't like driving around with Cruise America giant billboards on the side of the RV–It screams to everyone around you that you’re a tourist.

Pick the right RV type
Travel trailers and fifth wheels need a capable tow vehicle. Class B and C motorhomes offer an easier entry point. Class A motorhomes give the most space. Ask the team at Cruise America - Manassas which type fits your camping style.
Inspect these on every unit
Check the roof for cracks or soft spots (signs of water damage). Open every slideout and look for seal wear. Run all appliances. Test the generator, AC, and water heater. Check the underbelly for rust or damage.
Know the weight ratings
Every RV has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). Overloading causes tire blowouts and frame damage. Compare the GVWR against your intended load before committing.
Review service records
Ask Cruise America - Manassas for any available service history. Regular maintenance records — oil changes, roof resealing, slide service — signal a well-cared-for unit.
