If 0 Starts were an option, it would be a 0. My husband and I purchased a 2018 used RV from Beilstein Camper Sales in La Grange, Mo February of this year. The unit only had 7,200 miles on it. We brought it home and started cleaning it. While cleaning under the kitchen sink, we found a box of used needles. Thankfully it was us that found them and not one of our friend’s kids. (Wish I took pictures but I think we were so grossed out.) In the meantime, my husband had to change the oil because they didn’t do that. Fast forward a few weeks we were going to take it out. We filled it with water to rinse out the system before we did. We noticed the valve on the toilet leaking, the kitchen sink wouldn’t drain and my husband noticed the black tank had a fitting leaking. We took it back to Beilstein for them to fix it. They charged us for parts and covered the labor. We took it to a detailer in Quincy who did a great job on it because even though we cleaned it ourself, it still felt like it needed more. While they were detailing it they found bed bugs. We immediately texted our Sales person Cheryl and called them the next day at the office. I talked with Brent the Manager and he said didn’t think it was that big of a deal. We told him we had contacted an exterminator and he told us to let him know how much it was. We got 2 opinions; both quoted us around $400-450. We called Brent at Beilstein back and he said he would cover $400 any additional would be at our expense. His dad only wanted to cover $200 of it and he thought he was being generous offering $400. He thought he was going above and beyond what any dealership would have done. We went back over on Monday, May 19th to talk with them in person. Brent and his dad were both gone handling a family matter. Cheryl couldn’t help us she said her brother or dad would have to handle that. She did mention they reupholstered the dinette seats and put a new couch in, as well as a new mattress. We 100% believe they came from the dealer when we bought it. May 20th: The exterminator came out to treat it and said there was no way they didn’t know that there was an issue with the unit and that it looked like it had been treated in the past. So we treated it, then waited 2 weeks to treat again. In the meantime, we had an RV we couldn’t use and thankfully we never had. They didn’t want to take the unit back or put it on their lot as consignment as they had 2026 units coming in. We totally get stuff happens, but we felt this is something that we should never have had to deal with and was trying to be swept under the rug. If their shop really looked through it and didn’t find these issues what else could have been wrong with it? We had it treated 2 times by the pest control company and it was cleared. We had previously worked with another dealer looking at units. We were upfront with how they treated us and why we were choosing to walk away and wash our hands with it even though we lost some money doing so. He helped us get out of the RV and back into a new travel trailer. We haven’t heard from Beilstein in several months and we never saw any money from them. We lost several thousand dollars over dealing with them. We won’t purchase from them again and will tell our friends to avoid their dealership as well.
Great service and very reasonable prices! The RV part I needed was in stock for one tenth the price vs waiting several days to get an OEM brand part. If I ever need a new trailer, it would be worth the drive here vs a big city dealership!
My company Sparkle RV Services inspects RVs for pre-purchase and annual maintenance. We performed a pre-purchase inspection at Beilstein's today. Cheryl, the salesperson, was easy to reach, and scheduling the inspection was easy. She had everything ready for me when I arrived. The service department got me everything I needed, including changing out a bad GFCI so I could continue my inspection. Everyone was nice and easy to work with.
We had camper trouble at the nearby campgrounds. Beilstein personnel were very knowledgeable, courteous and helpful and solved our problem right away. What a gold mine for La Grange!
