Buying a motorcycle from Triumph San Diego in San Diego, California? Follow this checklist before you commit.
Verify the title and VIN
Check the VIN on the frame, engine, and title to confirm they match. Run the VIN through a motorcycle history report. Triumph San Diego should be able to provide documentation for any bike in their inventory.
Check the fork seals and bearings
Look for oil weeping down the fork tubes — a sign the seals need replacement. Grab the front wheel and push/pull firmly to check for play in the steering head bearings.
Inspect the chain and sprockets
A worn chain will have excess slack and the sprocket teeth will look hooked or pointed instead of rounded. Chain and sprocket replacement runs $200–$500. Factor that into your offer if it's needed.
Check tire age and tread depth
Look for the DOT date code on the sidewall — tires over five years old should be replaced regardless of tread. Tires are a safety item, not a cosmetic one.
Take a test ride
Confirm the clutch engages smoothly, the brakes feel firm, and the bike tracks straight at speed. Listen for valve noise, exhaust leaks, or electrical issues. A short test ride catches problems a visual inspection misses.

Great service from Danny. Took in my Meteor 350 for a oil change. I came in an hour early to my appointment. Danny was more than accommodating. He got me in and my bike was worked on 15 minutes later. I am looking foward to buying my next bike here.
Bought my Royal Enfield Hunter 350 last year for fathers days. My life has changed for the best ever since. I have a better work life balance and more quality time with my family. This bike hs made me very happy and I have the time to coach my sons football team again. All thanks to the awesome staff at Triumph who worked with me to get on a bike that I can afford but more importantly a bike that I wanted. 💯🙌🏽🙏🏽
BIG S/O TO DANNY @ MAINTENANCE. This guy is a true champion. You can tell he's not only an expert, but he profoundly cares about what's in the best interest of his clients and their budget. He is honest, will communicate clearly and will keep you updated in a timely manner. I am very pleased with Danny and the lengths he's gone to help my out. My Bonnie and I are tremendously thankful.
Solid and professional mechanic shop. They are honest and clear in explanations and don't surprise you with unexpected repairs. Got my daily commuter to graduate school back in fine running condition when I had an air intake to carburetor issue.
I had a pleasant experience with this local dealer. They have loads of new bike inventory and a few used inventory to choose from. Isaac and Jeff are friendly knowledgable folks, and it didn’t feel like a high pressure sales environment rather an inviting vibe. They have a good selection of soft goods, accessories for both Triumph and Royal Enfield. They also have good OEM parts inventory on hand including the replacement spokes I needed for my Scramblers rear wheel. Overall a great experience and recommend stopping by when in town.
