Buying a motorcycle from Indian Motorcycle Charlotte in Lowell, North Carolina? Follow this checklist before you commit.
Verify the title and VIN
Check the VIN on the frame, engine, and title to confirm they match. Run the VIN through a motorcycle history report. Indian Motorcycle Charlotte should be able to provide documentation for any bike in their inventory.
Check the fork seals and bearings
Look for oil weeping down the fork tubes — a sign the seals need replacement. Grab the front wheel and push/pull firmly to check for play in the steering head bearings.
Inspect the chain and sprockets
A worn chain will have excess slack and the sprocket teeth will look hooked or pointed instead of rounded. Chain and sprocket replacement runs $200–$500. Factor that into your offer if it's needed.
Check tire age and tread depth
Look for the DOT date code on the sidewall — tires over five years old should be replaced regardless of tread. Tires are a safety item, not a cosmetic one.
Take a test ride
Confirm the clutch engages smoothly, the brakes feel firm, and the bike tracks straight at speed. Listen for valve noise, exhaust leaks, or electrical issues. A short test ride catches problems a visual inspection misses.

Purchased a Used Pan America from Buzz! Great dude and great follow up with all my concerns and questions. The Guys in service helpful also. Buzz and Service techs get a 5 star. If you want a great experience go see Buzz! Well after bringing the bike home I noticed wires cut underneath the bike & it was dried mud underneath and around the exhaust. Need a better bike wash crew gentlemen.
Went by the dealership to say hi to some people and to check out what Indian had to offer compared to my Harley. I’m a recent convert away from Italian Sport bikes, so I’m not super familiar with American brand bikes outside of my Pan America. As soon as I walked in, my eyes were drawn to the sleek lines, and righteous color, of a Scout Rogue. Luckily for me, the sales team on staff that day included Jeremy! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the motorcycle and its features. The purchasing experience at the dealership was incredibly inviting. Everyone was happy I was there and either directly, or indirectly, involved with the sales process. I never felt pressured, Jeremy just laid out all the reasons I “should” buy an Indian without ever making me feel like he was trying to get me to believe it was my idea rather than a sales tactic. After sitting on the Scout and then hearing it start, I was sold! Then came the experience with finance, and it was every bit as pleasant and accommodating. I happen to be a medically retired veteran, and unlike the thank you’d and pat on the back at Harley, Indian went out of their way to celebrate my service and spiced up the deal with some rather significant benefits to the factory warranty. All in all, I couldn’t possibly recommend Indian of Charlotte, Jeremy, the finance team, really anyone there, any higher. If you are in the market for a new motorcycle, do yourself a favor and go see Jeremy at Indian first.
Went by the dealership just to look with full intentions of buying a Harley somewhere else until I sat on the aluminum frame Indian Challenger. Turns out to be the most beautiful and lighter weight bike. The experience with the Lowell sales (Jackson Martin) and finance manager was incredible. They had to go pick up my bike from FL and they were on top of it along with the entire sales experience. It was easy and stress free. The whole team was friendly yet professional. Go see this team. You will not be disappointed and the bike is absolutely fantastic. It’s like riding in a luxury car. It has all the right bells and whistles you could ever need and want. Just do it! You’ll be glad you did!!
Steve and Merle were super helpful and knowledgeable about the bikes. Jackson made the purchase super simple, and Jeff in parts is THE AUTHORITY on anything Indian motorcycle. I was a signature away from purchasing a new bike of a different brand, looked at the Indian dealership and committed to an order that day. Yesterday I took home a new Pursuit 112 Power Plus …and could not be happier. If you are looking for a state of the art V-twin, you owe it to yourself to look at Indian Motorcycle Charlotte. These are some of the nicest bikes you will find anywhere, pure American
Steve at Indian of Charlotte was great! From the first contact he was super personable, answered all my questions, and was very welcoming to a new rider. He worked with me and found me a great deal on a dream bike. I couldn’t be happier with my experience there.
