Buying a motorcycle from Honda of Covington Powersports in Covington, Louisiana? Follow this checklist before you commit.
Verify the title and VIN
Check the VIN on the frame, engine, and title to confirm they match. Run the VIN through a motorcycle history report. Honda of Covington Powersports should be able to provide documentation for any bike in their inventory.
Check the fork seals and bearings
Look for oil weeping down the fork tubes — a sign the seals need replacement. Grab the front wheel and push/pull firmly to check for play in the steering head bearings.
Inspect the chain and sprockets
A worn chain will have excess slack and the sprocket teeth will look hooked or pointed instead of rounded. Chain and sprocket replacement runs $200–$500. Factor that into your offer if it's needed.
Check tire age and tread depth
Look for the DOT date code on the sidewall — tires over five years old should be replaced regardless of tread. Tires are a safety item, not a cosmetic one.
Take a test ride
Confirm the clutch engages smoothly, the brakes feel firm, and the bike tracks straight at speed. Listen for valve noise, exhaust leaks, or electrical issues. A short test ride catches problems a visual inspection misses.

I had a great experience purchasing my 2026 Honda Foreman from Covington Powersports. From start to finish, the process was smooth, professional, and stress-free. Chris and Jerard were outstanding to work with — both were knowledgeable, honest, and took the time to make sure I got exactly what I was looking for. They answered all my questions, explained everything clearly, and never made me feel pressured. Customer service like this is hard to find these days. I highly recommend Covington Powersports to anyone looking to buy an ATV or powersports vehicle. I’ll definitely be back for future purchases.
Excellent Honda dealer. I have purchased 2 motorcycles here. A used CB500x and a new Africa Twin which they shipped in from Dallas. They have been fair and reasonable throughout our negotiations and provided me an excellent price. Darren is a particularly good salesman. Service has been good, they order what I need and have pretty good stock as well for normal things. Thanks Covington Powersports for the great experience.
Huge shoutout to Darren and Chris for helping to put my deal together. Only a handful of these bikes nationwide and they were able to get it and give me a great deal. Don't fall for the "buy out of state and save on taxes trap" BUY LOCAL! Chris and his team will not let you down.
Our sales guy was great. Would give 5 stars but I disagree with the financial side pushing deals on Gap and extended warranty .
Although I go to Honda of Covington all the time and they share the same lot. This was my first time in. Looks nice enough. Tenants are helpful and answered all my questions. The Main reason for visit today was because I've become interested in getting a Bike and obtaining an endorsement. I want a Honda bike therefore here I am. Looks like they have a nice selection of Bikes, ATvs and water vehicles. Plus there's a small store in the back for things like helmets, gloves , oil Etc etc. Talking to sales people. They're tight like everyone else during COVID Fiasco's. There's no ability to custom order anything. It has to be there or allocated. There are no pre-paid maintenance plans though they do have a service department. There's also in house financing but I'd probably just pay in cash. On Bikes at least u can purchase an extended warranty up to 4 years though exactly what it covers appears more up to maintenance departments discretion so I don't know about that just yet. I left a 4* review not because it was poor or anything. I just feel I'd need to go through a full purchase of something and at least a maintenance visit for a complete experience review vs just a random walk in viewing. So hopefully next year when I look to buy my bike I'll have a more up to date experience review
