Buying a motorcycle from Farrow Harley-Davidson in Columbus, Ohio? Follow this checklist before you commit.
Verify the title and VIN
Check the VIN on the frame, engine, and title to confirm they match. Run the VIN through a motorcycle history report. Farrow Harley-Davidson should be able to provide documentation for any bike in their inventory.
Check the fork seals and bearings
Look for oil weeping down the fork tubes — a sign the seals need replacement. Grab the front wheel and push/pull firmly to check for play in the steering head bearings.
Inspect the chain and sprockets
A worn chain will have excess slack and the sprocket teeth will look hooked or pointed instead of rounded. Chain and sprocket replacement runs $200–$500. Factor that into your offer if it's needed.
Check tire age and tread depth
Look for the DOT date code on the sidewall — tires over five years old should be replaced regardless of tread. Tires are a safety item, not a cosmetic one.
Take a test ride
Confirm the clutch engages smoothly, the brakes feel firm, and the bike tracks straight at speed. Listen for valve noise, exhaust leaks, or electrical issues. A short test ride catches problems a visual inspection misses.

Legendary brand of American motorcycles, plus apparel & more at some branches.
Nice shop to visit. Very nice showing of bikes and apparel. We were in. The area and they are the oldest Harly shop so we stopped in and picked up a few things.
Originally rode to Farrow East just for the ride and poker chip. Spline on heal/toe shifter broke. Kolt and Trev didn't hesitate to help us out. No appointment, spur of the moment and they were more than happy to get us out of a bad situation! Thanks Kolt & Trev, y'all are badass! Much respect!
John and the other staff were incredibly helpful. We reached an agreement on a trade price and the price of my new purchase over the phone. I was very pleased with my purchase and the service I received. This was my second time doing business with them, and it was well worth the 175-mile drive. Thank you very much.
Awesome dealer, fast service, fun events. Check out their lounge for QR code’s of some of the coolest rides in the area. Amazing selection of bikes, great merchandise, and some of the friendliest employees. I do hope to return soon
Recently bought my 2019 Heritage Softail 114 through Sam McDaniel. Sam’s a straightforward salesman who knows exactly what I need, not what I want, due to riding experience. He set me up with great team of experienced professionals at Farrow HD East to close the deal. Everything was done within 2 hours—done deal! I would definitely recommend any riders who wants the best experience and have salesman like Sam point you the right bike you actually need to get yourself back on the road again.
