Boat Buyer's Guide – Texas Marine of Conroe

Buying a boat from Texas Marine of Conroe in Conroe, Texas? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.

  1. 1

Match the boat to your waters

Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Texas Marine of Conroe which models suit the waterways near Conroe, Texas.

  2. 2

    Inspect the hull carefully

Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.

  3. 3

    Check engine hours

Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Texas Marine of Conroe.

  4. 4

    Request a sea trial

Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Texas Marine of Conroe will accommodate this request.

  5. 5

    Verify title and registration

Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Texas Marine of Conroe should be able to walk you through the paperwork.

We started at the Boat Show and met Kyle our sales guy and Jason the Finance Manager and from then on it was an amazing experience. We met Wayne at Lake Conroe so he could teach us how to operate our new Yamaha and what a great guy when he launched and put the boat back on the trailer it actually helped us the next day when we took our boat out we did what he did and we actually looked like pros for 1st time boat owners. So thank you Wayne you are the best. We then met Wes in service and he explained everything to us about servicing and warranties and answered all our questions we asked. We met Connie in Parts and she helped us with what we needed for our boat. So all I can just say about Texas Marine Conroe is that Kyle, Jason, Wayne, Wes and Connie made our purchase flawless and the best experience. I highly recommend them and will be a permanent customer. You guys rock!!!

My experience with Texas Marine in Conroe was exceptional. Kyle Roberts was very knowledgeable about the Yamaha 252SE. He explained all the features of the boat and did so with out pressuring us or directing us in any direction. Just good sound information. I would definitely recommend Kyle to friends and family as well as Texas Marine. Super experience.

Boat a new Barletta from these guys, can't say enough good things about this dealership. From the salesmen, Austin, to the GM, Brian, and the impeccable service in warranty from Wes. Always eager to answer my questions and doesn't make excuses, just gets it done. I will keep my business here at Texas Marine of Conroe.

Just purchased my 2023 Vexus from Texas Marine. I live 1300 miles from the dealership and was very skeptical about purchasing a boat the I couldn't see or drive. I contacted Ian(sales rep) and he sent me photos and videos of the boat. Even took the boat out on the water and recorded the boat running on the lake and testing all systems. He answered all my questions honestly and quickly. He even sent me a video of the boat before it was shipped and the transport company kept in touch while on the road to me. It arrived in great shape. Very happy with the boat and the service from Texas Marine. Ian is the best and worked hard to get my boat deal done. Will definitely use them again for my next boat purchase.

I will never use these guys again for service. I took my boat there recently for simple service work. They were supposed to replace the ignition switch, replace the bunks on the trailer, and service the vault sealed wheel bearings. They kept the boat for nearly a month. This didn’t bother me too much because I told them I wasn’t in an urgent rush and there was the Thanksgiving holiday in there. I had to call and check on it a couple times. Again, no big deal. They call me and tell me the boat is ready to go. I get there and get the boat hooked up to the trailer and I realize there is no ignition switch at all in the boat. Just an open hole in the dash. So, I leave the boat and they call me back a day or two later and say it’s ready again. I get the boat home and as I’m unloading it I realize many of the bunk lugs are not even tightened down all the way (dangerous). I call them up and they send someone to my house with an impact gun to tighten the lugs. A couple days later, I’m getting ready to go out to the lake and I realize they left the flush line disconnected and just flopping from the motor. I’m pretty glad I saw this before I got to the lake and cranked up my boat and potentially caused engine damage. There was other little stuff – screws missing from the dashboard, them not telling me all my straps were in a compartment on the boat (versus them just putting them back on the way they were when I dropped it off). I called them after each of the issues I found. They were very apologetic, which is fine, but when I asked them about a discount, I never heard from them again. This is all ridiculous, mostly because their labor rates are very expensive. I assume a high schooler was doing the work based on what I got back. Avoid for service.
