Huge thank you to Brandon VanMeekeren and the Gull Lake Marine team. We love our Axis T22! It was a smooth process from start to finish and we made awesome memories this summer because of it!!
If you like to be ghosted when things go bad this is your place! They winterized my boat fall 2024, found out this fall their job was half ass. The lower drain plug on my Bravo 3 was found with two washers on it, they did not take the 30 seconds to clean off the old washer. (Called double washering in the trade) Oil drained out during storage last winter. Result was I ran my boat for 60 hours with air and water for lube. Look it up, when it drains out from the bottom it creates a vacuum and your oil reservoir stays full so you don't know its empty. I explained this to Blake with proper evidence (he kept) a month and a half ago and his response was "I have to wait and see what the higher ups say" No sorry no nothing. I'm not done yet, maybe before round two they will fix my boat if not stay turned for more SLOW news from them. Two months later (3 days after a 1 star review).... Two great patient guys visited my storage shed , pulled the lower unit and inspected. The unit appeared to be fine to my/our bewilderment (40 hours without lube) testament to the Bravo 3X I hope!
On March 16, 2023 I bought a motor from them on the understanding it was a 30 inch XXL shaft which I needed. After getting it to my mechanic for install he informed me it was a 25 inch XL shaft and now we would have to marry my old shaft to the new motor which would be another $800 . After all work was done and install was complete I was able to splash the boat for the first time April 29, 2023. Ran like a dream only to find out later in the evening as temps hit 55-58 degrees and headed back to the dock the motor on plain would then go into limp mode until the throttle was returned to neutral and start all over again. Fast forward to warmer temperatures and it was fine. 2 months later over July 4th weekend is where the big problems began. The foam on the inside of the motor dropped on top of the motor and got chewed up and shot through the entire motor. I got the motor all cleaned out but it still didn’t run right and was fouling spark plugs so the boat got parked. After calling many times and leaving messages for a call back someone finally answered. So asking to speak to the woman that sold me the motor I find out she ghosted the company and never returned. I then asked to speak with the sales writer who finalized the sale and was supposed to handle my warranty paperwork. Come to find out he had been fired and never entered my warranty agreement. I then was told there was no warranty on my motor and it would be full price for diagnostic and repairs. Didn’t have much choice at this point but to just pay it. After dropping the boat off and telling them EXACTLY what happened and I thought pieces of the foam had made its way through the intake and into the reeds. I SPECIFICALLY asked them to FIX the motor and I would pay for it. It sat for 4 weeks before even being looked at and I know this because I got regular pictures of it sent to me still sitting under the cottonwood trees and getting filled with tree junk. On the 5th week of it being there I finally get a call saying diagnosis was done was done and it “had the wrong spark plugs” so come get it and you can just “fix it yourself” and pay the $285 bill. Defeats the purpose of “fix it for me”. I picked it up and put the plugs in they told me it needed. Now it ran EVEN WORSE!!! Since no one wants to work anymore and fix what is broken or honor warranty. Having no experience with repairing outboards I then decided to finally tear into the motor myself and what did I find? Yup foam in the reeds exactly like I thought. A 1 hour start to finish job to clean it out and it’s fine now. Thanks for costing me so much money and stealing from me Gull Lake Marine. You will never have my business again and I tell EVERYONE what you did and how I was treated.
I was looking for a fishing kayak. Found Gull lake marine online as a Hobie dealer and was really interested in them. After much research I decided to make the 45 minutes trip to them. Online said they had multiple units so I never bothered to call. My mistake!! I got there and I was helped right away but was told they didn't even have any hobie kayaks at all. I could travel another hour south they said or the receptionist could call them Monday. I walked out disappointed, when you try and support local brink and mortor places and get told basically we can order it for you....I could order it myself too but I wanted to have a local dealer available if it ever needed any warranty work. Update!!! 5 stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟I gave them a call and Jack called me back as soon as possible, pretty quick given that it's a Saturday and everyone is wanting to get on water. We came to a great deal that I'm extremely happy with. I'm getting the hobie passport 12r on Monday. Jack went above and beyond and was great to work with!! Thanks again for the great customer service. We need more of that today.
Got jerked around and lied to for almost a year and a half trying to get a repower done, the incompetence was astounding. On top of the wasted time, the loss of a whole year on our new motor warrantee, and everything else we had to deal with(which trust me, it was a lot), the condition we received our boat back in was appalling. To say I am displeased is a gross understatement. Overall worst customer service experience of our lives.

Buying a boat from Gull Lake Marine - Grand Rapids in Coopersville, Michigan? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Gull Lake Marine - Grand Rapids which models suit the waterways near Coopersville, Michigan.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Gull Lake Marine - Grand Rapids.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Gull Lake Marine - Grand Rapids will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Gull Lake Marine - Grand Rapids should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
