Buying a boat from German Brothers Marina in Canandaigua, New York? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask German Brothers Marina which models suit the waterways near Canandaigua, New York.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at German Brothers Marina.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like German Brothers Marina will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. German Brothers Marina should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
Marine financing has unique terms. Here is what to know before financing a boat through German Brothers Marina in Canandaigua, New York.
Typical Loan Terms
10 to 20 years for larger boats. Smaller boats are typically financed over 5 to 10 years.

10% to 20% is standard. Some lenders require more for older vessels.

Great boat rentals- We did a half day! Boat was perfect. We had no issues at all. I highly recommend German Brothers!
Heidi replied quickly to all of my questions! She was so easy to work with! They were able to get us a boat the day of my request! The boat was perfect and everyone was so nice at the marina! I highly recommend the German brothers!
Our family had an amazing time and a great experience with everyone we came in contact with at German Brothers! We will absolutely rent again! Not a single regret!
We were visiting from out of town for the 4th of July and our boat had issues with idling and shutting off. Not only were these folks able to get us in within a day of calling… when no one else was… or if they did they wanted to charge us an outrageous “emergency” fee… but they got the issue fixed in two days. The most impressive thing was they started with the basics and worked up from there without starting at high priced fixes first. Our Tahoe is running like a champ now and we didn’t have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it! My only regret is these guys aren’t here in Virginia!! They’d be my go to guys for sure!
Excellent. Super easy to find and book what you're looking for at great prices. Very nice staff and easy to work with and get you on your way. Equipment was in great shape too. Can't complain and will certainly be back again!
