Edit to respond to Capains choice 12.24.: What examination??? You haven't seen the boat in 2+years. You never gave me a trade value on it. Zero communication and zero follow up on something you guys most likely did wrong (pretty sure the engine was installed incorrectly on this boat). Something that was an issue from basically the day I bought it.... ORIGINAL POST :I didn't want to have to write this review. But this is an honest review of my experience with this company. The guys there seem to be great guys, nice to talk to. At this point it feels like it was just salesmanship and nothing more. I bought a double decker Avalon in 2020, paid good $ for it(over $110k). This boat has never run "right". Not sure if engine was installed correctly at this point. I did take it back shortly after and they changed hole slot, etc and still no better. Top speed mid 20's and cruising sub 20 mph (this boat has a 250 HP engine, should top out about 40 and cruise upper 20's--it is a heavier boat). So when they moved the engine slot I had paid them to put on a keel guard system(over $2k). When I got boat home, the keel guard system stopped working, I sent many emails about it with no answer, so I emailed the manufacture (which responded right away) and they saw pictures and said it was installed wrong. They had to send me new parts. Captains choice was CC'd in all these emails and never once said, sorry about that let us get out and reinstall it correct for you. They just IGNORED it. Fast forward to now. In spite of this I stopped in to see about trading my boat in. Good conversations, etc The owner when I brought up the keel guard said "those dont work anyway". Then why SELL It to me!!! So I was going to take the boat back in for them to look at it again and at same time I am interested in a new boat (dual console). Another dealer down south had same boat for 30k cheaper. When I emailed the quote and asked how close they could get with trading in my boats(yes, I have 2)--crickets, zero response to multiple emails. I guess just ignoring your customers when something was not right is the way to go? Not sure if Avalon and Sailfish know how poor the communication and service is, but I will be letting them know. Just so very disappointed. I spent a ton of $ and just wanted what I bought to work right. I guess that was to much to ask here.
Dean and his crew always take good care of me. Had a pretty big job done recently and they went above and beyond. Took care of getting me a warranty part ordered, delivered, and installed in less lan a week. Dean enjoys talking about fishing. He will talk with you as if you've know each other for years. Highly recommend Captains Choice Boats.
