Buying a boat from Boats Unlimited - New Bern in New Bern, North Carolina? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Boats Unlimited - New Bern which models suit the waterways near New Bern, North Carolina.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Boats Unlimited - New Bern.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Boats Unlimited - New Bern will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Boats Unlimited - New Bern should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
Marine financing has unique terms. Here is what to know before financing a boat through Boats Unlimited - New Bern in New Bern, North Carolina.
Typical Loan Terms
10 to 20 years for larger boats. Smaller boats are typically financed over 5 to 10 years.

Had my 2020 Bulls Bay serviced at this location for annual service and repair a fuel issue. The staff is very helpful, they fixed everything and then some that I didn’t know was bad. Super thorough and fairly priced. They communicated with me throughout the process and also did a detail which looks amazing. They earned a customer for life.
My dad brought a boat from here last year and this place is amazing. I highly recommend them. They will go above and beyond for you. They have astonishing customer service. I will always go here for boat stuff. Again highly recommend this place for boats and boating equipment.
Boats Unlimited in New Bern is phenomenal and the best around. The guys in service are awesome and the sale department is great. You want a boat fixed correctly then take it to them. If you’re going to take it to them though, don’t listen to the negative reviews like the bimbo below this review. They truly are a great place to do business with!!
