I bought a jeep for 10k. I had test drove it a few blocks and everything seemed fine. On the drive home (just over 20 miles) a check engine light came on. The transmission and o2 sensor had set it off. The repair shop replaced the transmission and sensor for 5k. When I asked how did this happen it was because 1.) I am a fool. 2.) The dealership knew and cleared the warning lights hoping for someone like me. This wiped me out. I would have still bought A car from the place... I needed one. But I didn't need to buy something they knew was dying. This was a devastating hit for me. It shouldn't have happened. I informed the dealership of the transmission the 2nd day I owned it. His reply was "when are you picking up your license plates". The warning lights were CLEARED. The dealership said they had looked at it, but transmission was on its last miles. The sensor had been going off and was cleared so I wouldn't know.
