Tiffin vs Newmar is a choice between a tighter diesel lineup and a much wider one. For 2027, Tiffin lists five Class A diesel lines with 15 floor plans from 35'2" to 45' long. Newmar lists nine Class A diesel lines with 37 floor plans and publishes starting prices, which the Tiffin pages read for this guide do not.

| Length range | 35'2" to 45' (approx. overall length) | 34 to 45 ft (as Newmar lists it) |
| Engine range | 380 to 605 hp; 1,150 to 1,950 lb-ft | 340 to 605 hp; 700 to 1,950 lb-ft |

All figures are for 2027 models and were read from tiffinmotorhomes.com and newmarcorp.com on 23 October 2026. Newmar prices are its "starting at" figures in US dollars; its pages do not say what they include or leave out, so ask dealers about freight, preparation, taxes and fees. The comparison uses only what Tiffin and Newmar publish on their own websites, plus the two parent companies' filings and releases. Tiffin's figures come from its 2027 model pages and the specification sheets linked from them. Newmar's come from its 2027 model pages, its diesel and category pages and its warranty page. Everything was read on 23 October 2026 and checked a second time by a separate review.
Nothing here comes from test drives or time in either coach, and neither brand is called better overall. Some figures are not compared because the brands do not publish them on the same basis. Tiffin's spec sheets give approximate overall length, GVWR and a hitch rating for every floor plan; the Newmar model pages read give length in whole feet and a towing figure for only one line. Searchshop's own listing data is not used, because the listings read had no asking prices.
Newmar spreads its Class A diesels across more lines and floor plans, while Tiffin covers a similar length range with fewer choices. Tiffin's 2027 diesel lines are the Allegro Red, Phaeton, Bob Tiffin Limited Edition Phaeton, Allegro Bus and Zephyr. Tiffin says the limited edition Phaeton is "Limited to just 84 coaches."
Newmar's 2027 Class A diesel lines are the Northern Star, Ventana, Dutch Star, New Aire, Mountain Aire, London Aire, Essex and King Aire, plus the Canyon Star. Newmar describes the Canyon Star as "the only Class A front‑engine diesel toy hauler on the market today," with one floor plan and a 10-foot garage. Newmar's diesel lineup page describes its range as running "From Class A diesel pushers to the versatile Super Class C," and its Northern Star page calls that line "your most approachable entry into the world of luxury diesel pusher travel."
Both brands also build other motorhomes. Tiffin's 2027 lineup includes the gas Open Road Allegro and Class B and Class C models. Newmar's includes the gas Bay Star and Bay Star Sport and several Super C and Compact C diesel lines. Those are outside this comparison.
Tiffin's five diesel lines step up from a 380 hp entry coach to a 605 hp flagship, and four of them sit on what Tiffin calls its "Exclusive PowerGlide® Chassis." Lengths below are Tiffin's approximate overall lengths from its specification sheets.
| Line | Floor plans and length | Engine | Chassis |
| Allegro Red | 3 (33 AA, 37 BA, 38 KA); 35'2" to 39'6" | Cummins L9, 380 hp, 1,150 lb-ft | Freightliner XCM raised rail |
| Phaeton | 4 (35 CH, 37 BH, 40 IH, 44 OH); 37'9" to 45' | Cummins L9, 450 hp, 1,250 lb-ft | PowerGlide XC raised rail |
| Bob Tiffin Limited Edition Phaeton | 2 (40 RTH, 44 RTH); 41'4" for the 40 RTH | Cummins L9, 450 hp, 1,250 lb-ft | PowerGlide XC raised rail |
| Allegro Bus | 4 (36 AP, 40 IP, 45 OPP, 45 BP); 38'2" to 45' | Cummins L9, 450 hp, 1,250 lb-ft; X15 605 hp optional on 45-foot plans | PowerGlide XC raised rail |
| Zephyr | 2 (45 PZ, 45 FZ); 45' | Cummins X15, 605 hp, 1,950 lb-ft | PowerGlide SL raised rail |
Tiffin's spec sheets list an Allison 6-speed automatic on every diesel line: the 3000 MH as standard on the Allegro Red, both Phaetons and the Allegro Bus, and the 4000 MH on the Zephyr. The Allegro Red's 38 KA is a bunk house plan, and the Allegro Bus 45 BP has two full baths and mid-coach bunks. Tiffin says the Allegro Bus and Zephyr have its PowerDrive steering system.
Newmar's diesel pushers run from a 34-foot coach with 360 hp to 45-foot coaches with 605 hp, and its four most powerful lines all come with tag axles. The front-engine Canyon Star, with 340 hp, sits apart from them. Lengths below are as Newmar lists them on each model page.
| Line | Floor plans and length | Engine | Chassis |
| Northern Star | 4; 34 to 40 ft | 360 hp, 800 lb-ft | Freightliner Custom Chassis |
| Ventana | 6; 35 to 43 ft | 380 or 400 hp; 1,150 or 1,250 lb-ft | Freightliner or Spartan K2; tag axle on 40 ft and up |
| Dutch Star | 7; 38 to 43 ft | 450 hp, 1,250 lb-ft | Freightliner or Spartan K2; tag axle on 40 ft and up |
| New Aire | 3; 35 ft | 450 hp, 1,250 lb-ft | Freightliner Custom Chassis or Spartan K2 |
| Mountain Aire | 4; 38 to 45 ft | 525 hp, 1,695 lb-ft | Spartan K3, tag axle |
| London Aire | 5; 45 ft | 605 hp, 1,950 lb-ft | Freightliner or Spartan K3, tag axle |
| Essex | 4; 45 ft | 605 hp, 1,950 lb-ft | Freightliner SL or Spartan K3, tag axle |
| King Aire | 3; 45 ft | 605 hp, 1,950 lb-ft | Spartan K3, tag axle |
| Canyon Star (front engine) | 1; 39 ft | 340 hp, 700 lb-ft | Freightliner Custom Chassis |
Newmar's own steering system is Comfort Drive Adaptive Steering, which it calls "Industry-First" on the Ventana page and says is now standard on the Northern Star. Newmar says the Mountain Aire has a 38-foot passive tag axle.
Newmar's diesel pushers start at $423,870 for the Northern Star and pass $1.75 million for the King Aire, while Tiffin's model pages and spec sheets read for this guide list no prices. These are the starting prices for Newmar's diesel pushers that matched on both the model page and Newmar's diesel lineup page on 23 October 2026:
- Northern Star: $423,870
- Ventana: $529,250
- Dutch Star: $676,136
- New Aire: $691,360
- London Aire: $989,528
- Essex: $1,147,050
The Mountain Aire and King Aire showed different starting prices on Newmar's model pages and its lineup page, so they are not listed. Both King Aire figures were above $1.75 million. For a Tiffin price, ask a Tiffin dealer for a written quote on the exact floor plan and options, then compare it with a Newmar of similar length and power.
The clearest engineering difference is the chassis: Tiffin puts most of its diesels on its PowerGlide chassis, which it calls exclusive, while Newmar offers Freightliner and Spartan chassis by line and length. Tiffin describes PowerGlide as a raised rail design that allows "flat floors throughout the living space and expanded storage below." Its entry Allegro Red uses a Freightliner XCM raised rail chassis instead.
Newmar's model pages name Freightliner Custom Chassis, Freightliner XCR on 38-foot Ventana and Dutch Star models, and Spartan K2 or K3 chassis on others. Several Newmar lines are offered on either a Freightliner or a Spartan chassis, so ask which one a given coach is built on.
Power is evenly matched at the top. Both brands' flagships list 605 hp and 1,950 lb-ft, with Tiffin naming the Cummins X15. At the entry level, the Allegro Red lists 380 hp and 1,150 lb-ft, the Ventana 380 or 400 hp, and the Northern Star 360 hp and 800 lb-ft.
Newmar states its warranty terms in writing on its website, while the Tiffin pages read show warranty headings but not the full terms. Newmar says, "Every Newmar motor coach is backed by our one-year, unlimited-mile expressed limited warranty." Its structural warranty covers the superstructure for five years from the date of purchase, and Newmar says it "is available only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable."
The Phaeton, limited edition Phaeton, Allegro Bus and Zephyr pages carry a "10-Year Structural Warranty" heading; the Allegro Red page shows none, and the Zephyr page lists a "24 Month Warranty." Ask a Tiffin dealer for the written terms, including what the structural warranty covers and whether it transfers to a later owner.
Both brands are now owned by larger RV companies. THOR Industries' SEC filing says it acquired all the shares of Tiffin with a closing date of December 18, 2020. Winnebago Industries announced on November 8, 2019 that it had completed its acquisition of Newmar, which it described as "a leading manufacturer of Class A and Super C motorized recreation vehicles (RVs)."
Each brand covers some special needs better on paper, so match the floor plan list to your must-haves before comparing finishes. Newmar's mobility lineup lists wheelchair accessible floor plans on the Dutch Star and Northern Star, and the Ventana page also says one is available; none of the Tiffin diesel pages read for this guide lists one. For bunks, Newmar lists bunk floor plans on the Ventana, Dutch Star and London Aire, and Tiffin offers the Allegro Red 38 KA and Allegro Bus 45 BP.
Tiffin publishes a hitch rating for each floor plan. Its spec sheets list a 10,000 lb hitch rating on the Allegro Red, Phaeton and shorter Allegro Bus plans, 15,000 or 20,000 lb on the 45-foot Allegro Bus plans depending on engine and plan, and 20,000 lb on the Zephyr. Tiffin notes that maximum trailer weight "is dependent on the loading and towing variables." Among the Newmar model pages read, only the London Aire gives a figure, which Newmar describes as "an impressive 20,000‑lb. towing capacity." For any other Newmar, get the rating for the exact coach from the dealer or its weight label.
Choose by the floor plan and length you need first, then compare the Tiffin and Newmar coaches that fit. A simple way to narrow it down:
- You want the most choice in one brand: Newmar's 37 Class A diesel floor plans give more layouts to choose from.
- You need a wheelchair accessible coach: start with Newmar's Northern Star or Dutch Star, and ask about the Ventana's accessible plan.
- You tow a heavy trailer: Tiffin's Zephyr and 45-foot Allegro Bus list hitch ratings up to 20,000 lb, and Newmar gives the London Aire a 20,000 lb towing capacity; get the rating for any other coach in writing.
- You want a price before visiting a dealer: Newmar posts starting prices for each line; Tiffin needs a dealer quote.
- You want a 45-foot flagship: compare the Zephyr with the London Aire, Essex and King Aire, which list the same 605 hp and 1,950 lb-ft.

Winnebago announced on November 8, 2019 that it had completed its acquisition of Newmar.
A new 2027 Newmar diesel pusher starts at $423,870 for the Northern Star, according to Newmar's website on 23 October 2026. The Ventana starts at $529,250, the Dutch Star at $676,136, and the Essex at $1,147,050. The King Aire, Newmar's most expensive Class A, is listed at more than $1.75 million. Newmar does not say what these starting prices include, so ask dealers about freight, preparation, taxes and fees.
Tiffin builds most of its 2027 diesels on its PowerGlide raised rail chassis, while Newmar uses Freightliner and Spartan chassis. Tiffin's Phaeton, limited edition Phaeton and Allegro Bus use PowerGlide XC, the Zephyr uses PowerGlide SL and the Allegro Red uses a Freightliner XCM. Newmar lists Freightliner Custom Chassis, Freightliner XCR and Spartan K2 or K3 chassis depending on the line and length.
