Buying a motorcycle from Moto Authority in Albuquerque, New Mexico? Follow this checklist before you commit.
Verify the title and VIN
Check the VIN on the frame, engine, and title to confirm they match. Run the VIN through a motorcycle history report. Moto Authority should be able to provide documentation for any bike in their inventory.
Check the fork seals and bearings
Look for oil weeping down the fork tubes — a sign the seals need replacement. Grab the front wheel and push/pull firmly to check for play in the steering head bearings.
Inspect the chain and sprockets
A worn chain will have excess slack and the sprocket teeth will look hooked or pointed instead of rounded. Chain and sprocket replacement runs $200–$500. Factor that into your offer if it's needed.
Check tire age and tread depth
Look for the DOT date code on the sidewall — tires over five years old should be replaced regardless of tread. Tires are a safety item, not a cosmetic one.
Take a test ride
Confirm the clutch engages smoothly, the brakes feel firm, and the bike tracks straight at speed. Listen for valve noise, exhaust leaks, or electrical issues. A short test ride catches problems a visual inspection misses.

EDIT: Since I can't reply to the owners response, I'm going to go ahead and edit my review. I've attached screenshots of your website where it clearly states it's a semi-automatic. I was also not offered a full refund whatsoever, the owner asked "did you still want it?" and I said I don't see how much of a choice I have since there aren't any Spyder's in my price range in Albuquerque, I also did mention about getting a free warranty rather then any money back and that wasn't taken seriously. The words, we can offer you a full refund were never told me to me, I will also go ahead and email about the response. I unfortunately didn't have the greatest experience, I saw on their website that they had a 2015 Can Am Spyder for sale and it specifically said that it was a Semi-automatic I have been looking into buying a Spyder and didn't really want a manual transmission. I went in and hadn't done my research enough to realize that the semi automatics have a different shifter then the manuals. I was told by the owner that it was a semi automatic and since they own a motorcycle shop I assumed they would know. Well I went ahead and bought the Spyder right then and there, upon doing my research a couple of days later I realized it was in fact not a semi-automatic. But I didn't receive anything but a half hearted I'm sorry about that, they had something incorrectly advertised and sold me something that wasn't what I wanted, I chose to keep it because A. They told me when I bought it that there was no window for a return and B. There are no semi automatics in Albuquerque in my price range as they're all newer models, so it was that or nothing. I'm pretty frustrated, I felt like that the price should have been knocked down or some of my fees taken off or I should have been offered at the very least a one year warranty. It's pretty frustrating when I'm a nice person and try not to make a fuss about stuff and it felt like I just got taken advantage of even though they didn't do their research properly and incorrectly advertised this product.
They were so helpful!!! Coming back from sturgis to mexico and had a little problem, helped me to find the tire change it and they saw a bigger problem with bearings!!! Excelent price for the job!!!
Bought my 2024 Ninja 500 here. Had a good experience with sales. Took a look at bikes when I bought my helmet for my MSF course and came back to buy one of the bikes they showed me. Staff were professional and nice. I look forward to doing business with them again in the near future. I'm happy with my purchase.
A gem in Albuquerque. This place is like a mini expo of the coolest bikes available. The detailed safety inspection, expertises of the manager and the kind customer service specialist in the front sets this place apart from anything like it in our metro. There is also cool coffee shop just feet away that is cycle themed.
I do not recommend doing business with this shop. They scratched my drive pulley and refuse to resolve the issue. When I brought it to their attention they showed empathy which was nice of them but also said there's nothing they can do.
