Buying a motorcycle from Knoxville Powersports in Knoxville, Tennessee? Follow this checklist before you commit.
Verify the title and VIN
Check the VIN on the frame, engine, and title to confirm they match. Run the VIN through a motorcycle history report. Knoxville Powersports should be able to provide documentation for any bike in their inventory.
Check the fork seals and bearings
Look for oil weeping down the fork tubes — a sign the seals need replacement. Grab the front wheel and push/pull firmly to check for play in the steering head bearings.
Inspect the chain and sprockets
A worn chain will have excess slack and the sprocket teeth will look hooked or pointed instead of rounded. Chain and sprocket replacement runs $200–$500. Factor that into your offer if it's needed.
Check tire age and tread depth
Look for the DOT date code on the sidewall — tires over five years old should be replaced regardless of tread. Tires are a safety item, not a cosmetic one.
Take a test ride
Confirm the clutch engages smoothly, the brakes feel firm, and the bike tracks straight at speed. Listen for valve noise, exhaust leaks, or electrical issues. A short test ride catches problems a visual inspection misses.

Spoke with Greg over the phone from out of State, explained what I wanted and when I’d be there to pick up a Bobcat tractor Bush Hog and Trailer. With a week of lead time, upon our arrival all was ready. Jordan went over the Equiptment with myself and my Daughter. Paperwork and time in and out was 30 minutes. Great staff and an amazing experience overall. Communication, Integrity, Professionalism and Expertise are very highly noted, I will be purchasing further Equiptment from Knoxville Powersports in the future.
Overall, great company to buy from. They were transparent through the whole process and weren’t pushing for the sale like most places. Our salesman Houston was great and made sure that I got the machine I was looking at.
Great group of guys! Bought two in a week and they are friendly and awesome prices! Definitely crushing the competition. Go see Zack, Greg and Jordan! Ed’s good too!
Love Knoxville Powersports. They made buying my new 1000 Ranger a breeze. From sales to service fantastic company to work with . Greg was the salesman I dealt with, he was great to do business with. The ATV I wanted had the bumpers installed and added to the price that I agreed to. They loaded the ATV in my truck and I strapped it down. Went to pay cash and the man taking the money wanted to charge me $270 for installation of the bumpers. I wouldn't pay $270 for putting 8 small bolts to install them. So they unload it and load one that doesn't have bumpers installed. Then they bring out the front bumper in a box but they can't find a rear bumper on the shelf. They end up removing the rear bumper from the first one they removed from the truck and I agreed to taking the bumper. They was trying to charge over two hours($270) of labor ($130 an hour) for installing the bumpers on the first one, it took a guy that works in the "office" (they had no mechanic that day)less than 10 minutes to uninstall the rear bumper. It took me less than 20 minutes to install both front and back when I got home. So watch out for accessories that's already installed sitting on the lot, they will try to charge an outrageous labor charges.
