OUT OF TOWNERS BEWARE: First of all I am a local here in Amarillo, and I have bought many vehicles from out of town, and figured any potential buyers from out of town that plan on coming to buy a motorcycle need to know this. About 6 weeks ago my wife and I bought a 2010 Harley Tri-Glide with 11k miles for a decent price from Goldenspread. Wish we would've kept looking, and bought elsewhere because our experience was horrible. First of all, they don't allow any test rides (I am a fairly new rider and that was okay, but it should've raised a flag). So we went there to look, started it up, and decided we were going to purchase it. We had one of the salesman deliver it to our house, and when he parked it I noticed a strong oil burning smell. The next day I rode it around my neighborhood and noticed the rear brakes were grinding something horrible, the parking brake wasn't working, and it still had the horrible burning smell. I checked the air filter and it was the worst air filter I have ever seen. It was solid black and looked to have never been changed since new (2010). So I decided to do a little investigating and noticed the engine oil was very low, and judging by the solid black color it hasn't been changed in probably several years. Checking the primary fluid, the transmission fluid, and the brake fluid (I even bought a brake fluid tester and it tested the worst it can go), it all looked very very old and spent. Plus the brake rotors were scarred and gouged, the pads were worn almost all the way down, and all needed replaced. I reached out to Goldenspread, and they tried to get me to go to a guys house to get it looked at. Never even mentioned anything about making it right to us, just offered his mechanic to us. So I declined, and decided to do the work myself. While I was accessing the issues I noticed there was fresh oil leaking from the rocker box cover onto the exhaust (which I'm thinking is the oil burning smell I'm smelling), and fresh oil leaking from the oil pan. So let's jump forward to today.....I have bought and replaced both rear rotors and pads, did a 3 hole oil change, flushed brake fluid, adjusted the parking brake, and changed out that nasty air filter. Right now all I have left to tackle is the leaks, but need to save some money to do so. I'm already out almost $1500 just to get my bike in the condition it should've been sold in (except I still have the leaks) So......there's only a couple of reasons Goldenspread Motorplex would allow a vehicle to get sold in this condition. Either they don't check anything and expect the new owner to check the fluids and drivability, they forgot to do it on this particular bike, or they just don't care. When I bought the bike I was told there were a few people wanting to come in from out of town, buy it, and drive it home. I am sooooo thankful that didn't happen because there's no way it would've made it hundreds of miles safely without causing more damage to the bike, or getting stranded. So because of my experience with Goldenspread, and the fact that I have bought vehicles from out of town before and drove it home (1000+ miles), I figured potential buyers need to read this. Or at least if you are local and go look at a bike, don't be a dumbo like I was, and check everything over very carefully. And to top it off, the salesman I bought it from knows my family, and never even reached out to me (even though I left him a voicemail when I noticed the problems and asked him to call me). He had another salesman do it. If I am ever in the market again for a motorcycle, I will for sure go elsewhere.
Although the ATV I went to look at had already sold, they were nice. I had bought a motorcycle from them many years ago and it still runs like a champ.
Extremely rude receptionist, hung up on one before could even say anything. Will be telling EVERYONE I know in this city to NOT come to this dealership. DO NOT COME HERE OR CALL THEM they are extremely rude.
Good luck with this dealership. They have their vehicles extremely over priced and are not willing to work with you. So regardless how great of a credit customer you are or have done your NADA, KBB research they are proud of there over priced, non haggling business platform. told one of the salesman I found one that was right on price but I wanted to do my due diligence and maybe save a trip and he said "I'd buy it".
If you are looking for a place that you can find an affordable, nice, reliable car and get awesome home town customer service then you need look no further the guy's at Golden Spread are all about their clients. They also have a large selection of Harley's and motorcycles. They are located at an easy stop. I would definitely recommend them And AJ took amazing care of me and went out of his way to make sure my needs were met and I left happy. He was honest and genuine and I appreciated that the most.
