Buying a boat from Truman Lake Marine in Warsaw, Missouri? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Truman Lake Marine which models suit the waterways near Warsaw, Missouri.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Truman Lake Marine.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Truman Lake Marine will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Truman Lake Marine should be able to walk you through the paperwork.

Wonderful experience with Truman Lake Marine - Hope & Steven were fantastic in walking us through boat options, answering all of our questions, gliding us through the financing, and even making a house call to help us figure out some details after the boat was home! We reached out 07/01 and by 07/11 we had our boat home and ready to go. It’s truly a family oriented locally owned business that will make the boat buying experience easy - we will be recommending them to everyone and returning to TLM any time we have boat needs! Dustin & Linda are running a fantastic business with an even better team! Thank you for making the first boat buying experience so easy
If you are looking for a boat or just looking for a boat service center, I highly recommend these guys. They took care of me better than my expectations. I live 5 hours from their shop and will go back to them for my next boat purchase. Hope even stayed at the office until 7pm for me to come check out the boat prior to purchase. The whole team is extremely friendly and helpful, not once was I pressured into anything.. Again, if you are looking for someone you can trust Truman Marine is the place. One more thing to point out, they made a custom cover specifically for my boat. All i can say is WOW its wonderful, best cover i have ever had for a boat. These guys do it all !!
Truman Lake Marine is definitely the place to go to get a custom built boat cover! They built our cover over all our accessories and top so it’s ready to fish as soon as we take it off. Extremely well built, reinforced, and has a great ratchet system to give it a tight fit for the road!! 🎣
I have had nothing but great experiences with this company. I have 2 boats they have worked on and each time they have gone above and beyond, even getting one done the same day because I had family in from out of state. Great place to get your boat fixed..
Dustin went the extra mile and was able to get me a 2024 Mercury 300hp Pro XS with minimal wait time compared to other dealers, excellent work and great pricing, highly recommended!
