Being from Molokai, couple things we deal with as a part of everyday life is expensive prices, and waiting for items we purchase because its unavailable here. Im glad I have the patience of my upbringing and the understanding of treating others respectfully for some things may be out of their control, otherwise I would probably be frustrated when things are expensive or having to call for an hour to finally get through. Customer service was great and helpful when I did get through both via chat and phone. They were able to tend to my concerns politely and gave me some tips to avoid my issue I had with shipping. My business with West Marine has been satisfactory to this point but if you're impatient or like to grumble about things out of their control such as prices, maybe not your best option. But for me I'll invest patiently from WM.
It has great selection, but the customer service is always bad. They always act like the customer is a huge inconvenience and have left me on hold for extended periods of time before they hang up.

I needed a replacement Tilley Hat, a very durable hat that floats, which is why a marine store would carry it. West Marine carried a variety of Tilley Hats in various sizes, and I was successful in finding a replacement that fit.
Today is Christmas Eve and they close at 4. I called and said I’d arrive at 4:02 could I come in and grab a paddle board. I was told yes. I arrived a minute earlier and this lady wouldn’t even let me in the door. She wouldn’t even hear me out. Just shook her head and walked away. VERY SAD!
