Buying a boat from Thayers Marine in Norwich, Connecticut? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Thayers Marine which models suit the waterways near Norwich, Connecticut.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Thayers Marine.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Thayers Marine will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Thayers Marine should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
Marine financing has unique terms. Here is what to know before financing a boat through Thayers Marine in Norwich, Connecticut.
Typical Loan Terms
10 to 20 years for larger boats. Smaller boats are typically financed over 5 to 10 years.
Down Payment
10% to 20% is standard. Some lenders require more for older vessels.
Pro Tip
Get pre-approved by your bank before visiting Thayers Marine — it gives you a rate to compare against dealer financing.
Marine lenders (USAA, SunTrust, Essex Credit) specialize in boat loans and often offer better rates than general banks. Get a pre-approval before visiting Thayers Marine to compare against dealer-arranged financing.

Edited to add: ALL requests outlined in my review have been submitted through the proper channels and approved by my HOA board. My review is solely based on CiD's failure to "carry out the direction of my association's elected board". My HOA community has had 3 different property management companies since I’ve owned my condo and CiD Consortium LLC is by far the worst. Based on their reviews it looks like they only have two employees who are consistently helpful - unfortunately, neither works with my community. The most serious issue is their deliberate lack of communication. I have reported multiple safety concerns that put our community at legal risk, yet they routinely ignore emails, phone calls, and portal messages. They also fail to provide residents with basic updates on large, expensive community projects that directly impact homeowners. When you finally reach someone they say they’ll “discuss it with the board at the next meeting.” In reality, nothing happens unless you personally attend the meeting to hold CiD Consortium accountable on communication. Isn’t that the entire purpose of a property management company? To communicate homeowner concerns to the board and ensure the community is properly maintained? We shouldn’t have to take PTO every month to attend mid-day meetings just to address basic maintenance. In October 2025, I finally took time off work to attend the board meeting. Not surprising, the board was hearing about my months-long request for the first time, despite at least four prior meetings with the board! With CEO Adam Haney in attendance, my HOA board had made a clear decision. It’s now been 3 months since the decision was made, and Adam refuses to follow through with the requests and has instructed his team (Roy and Yanira) to ignore it as well since I haven’t received a reliable update. If you are unfortunate enough to get stuck with CiD Consortium LLC, my recommendation is to make sure everything is documented in writing so when a legal issue inevitably arises, you have proof. Otherwise your HOA and your dues may pay the price for their lack of professionalism and accountability. Both Brenda Lynch (Brand Development Professional) and Adam Haney (CEO) are fully aware of my requests, so this review shouldn’t come as a surprise. **Only positive to note - thank you to Corrine Reyes who warned me of a dangerous neighbor attempting to get my contact information. She helped me remove all my sharable contact info from their database very quickly.**
A+ Fast responsive easy Great price great person. Now my permanent electrician
We had broken sprinklers in front of our home and Mandy Wideman helped us out immediately with our issue, with the sprinklers being worked on the very next day. We really appreciated Mandy forwarding any updates from the groundskeeping company on the status of the sprinklers and her overall support!
As a new customer (member of a HOA) I found the team at CiD Consortium (in particular - Marcie L.) to be incredibly helpful. Their attention to detail and customer focus is outstanding.
Disappointing that our HOA hired this property management company. The women I spoke to on the phone seemed unprofessional and had literally no information. She said she doesn’t know anything but she will pass the message on and try to find someone who can help. Still haven’t heard back from weeks ago. The second person I talked to was through email and she ignored me. I tried to message through the online portal.. Still no response. I have a few questions since the switch to this new company and I have a request order to put in for pest issue on the property. Still no reply on the request either. Sad that this company isn't any better than the last one we had …
