Buying a boat from Sportsmans Choice Marine in Longs, South Carolina? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Sportsmans Choice Marine which models suit the waterways near Longs, South Carolina.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Sportsmans Choice Marine.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Sportsmans Choice Marine will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Sportsmans Choice Marine should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
Marine financing has unique terms. Here is what to know before financing a boat through Sportsmans Choice Marine in Longs, South Carolina.
Typical Loan Terms
10 to 20 years for larger boats. Smaller boats are typically financed over 5 to 10 years.

10% to 20% is standard. Some lenders require more for older vessels.

I recently bought my second boat from Sportsman Choice And they are an excellent group to work with. The purchasing experience was smooth and hassle free. Their inventory levels are outstanding. I have worked with Joesph Hucks as my sales representative both time and he is top notch before, during and after the sale. If you want to buy a boat you would be well served to look at Sportsman Choice and call Joseph. Their customer service is unmatched.
I can’t say enough good things about Sportsman’s Choice Marine! Their service and support for my outboards has been absolutely outstanding. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel like a priority. They really know their stuff, explained everything clearly, and went above and beyond to make sure my motors were running perfectly. It’s rare these days to find a shop that combines expertise with genuine customer care, but Sportsman’s Choice delivers on both. The turnaround time was fast, communication was excellent, and I left with total confidence in my equipment. If you want a team you can trust to keep you on the water, this is the place to go!
Not a bad place to deliver to, but you need to call. So you can figure out how to get to the docks. You don't drive up to the front of the place you have to go up the street make AU. Turn and go to the street right after the business between the business and the coin shop. To get to the back if you take the first street first light. It takes you through the residential you don't want to do that. Can I see no overnight parking at all staff was very friendly. And a good place to deliver
No need to search for the best deal. Sportsman’s Choice gives it to you without having to ask. I spent time researching and getting pricing within a 5 hour radius and ended up here. They don’t tack on dealer fees, paperwork fees, destination charge, or delivery fees. Brian and Jason helped me with the pain free purchase and I couldn’t be happier. Thanks guys! I’ll definitely be back in the future.
These guys were great. From the time we walked in to the time they delivered to the marina @nmbrvresort. Highly recommend if you want a easy, and informative experience.
