Buying a boat from Sea Lake Yachts-Rockport in Rockport, Texas? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Sea Lake Yachts-Rockport which models suit the waterways near Rockport, Texas.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Sea Lake Yachts-Rockport.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Sea Lake Yachts-Rockport will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Sea Lake Yachts-Rockport should be able to walk you through the paperwork.

Purchased my first boat from Captain Mike. He went out of his way to make sure I was satified. I had returned my rental vehicle and he helped me gather the items I needed to venture up the icw. If you are trying to purchase a boat, ask for Captain Mike. You wont be disappointed.
Doug was great and took the time to explain the process and linked us up with Carter who showed us around the Kemah boats that were all fantastic, in their way. We haven't found our boat yet, but I'm looking forward to working with these guys to make it happen.
I purchased my first boat though Sea Lake in 2000 and went back last year when I decided to upgrade. While there are any number of brokers and dealers who located much closer to me, there are none that I've found who can match the professionalism and service that the Sea Lake team provides. There is no question that can't be answered and no problem that can't be solved. While a lot of brokers focus on moving inventory, Sea Lake focuses on helping the customer make the right choice. When I decide to upgrade again, I'll be back
We recently worked with Doug Huges to close on our boat. It could not have gone any better. The best thing was he was looking out for the seller and us and this made the whole experience great. He was super attentive but not pushy. If you need to buy or sell a boat go through Doug and Sea Lake Yachts.
Walked into the office, Darrel was behind the desk. Asked about the endeavor that still had their sign on it. His response was sold you can ask them owners working on it if you can get on. Asked about the Pearson 39 shown on their window and website, said yeah I think we sold that. Didn't say anything else, didn't ask any questions about what kinda boat we were looking for. Just greeted the next guy in the door, who left shortly after us, they don't appear interested in actuating selling to customers.
