Buying a boat from Reno's Powersports KC in Kansas City, Missouri? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Reno's Powersports KC which models suit the waterways near Kansas City, Missouri.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Reno's Powersports KC.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Reno's Powersports KC will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Reno's Powersports KC should be able to walk you through the paperwork.

I recently purchased a 2026 Ducati XDiavel V4 and couldn’t be happier with my experience at Reno’s Power Sports!! Upon entering the shop I was pleasantly greeted but not pressured by sales representatives. John Heshion assisted me with my purchase and was very knowledgeable of the all the XDiavel’s functions and available options. He answered all of my questions and potential concerns while not pressuring me into a purchase. All of the staff there were very pleasant and I would gladly return to their establishment for future purchases! Thanks again for making my experience here a great one!
John Heshion is a sales professional , he took care of me promptly on a 2025 Ducati V2S two hours before close on a Friday. Was about to ride the bike home and it started snowing, they staff at Reno’s immediately offered to deliver the bike for free the next day to my house 23 miles away. Also was thanked by the GM/part owner for my business. Great group of people to do business with , looking forward to working with Reno’s in the future.
Very easy to deal with. The process was smooth. So smooth that we ended up buying 2. Nate, our salesman, did a fantastic job of explaining how everything worked.
Honestly not a big fan of this place. Just purchased a Ducati Panigale here. Every screw on the bike is over tightened A LOT… they didn’t properly put the tire back on. The bike needed updates because of bugs in the software. I’m really not impressed. There was a screw that was stripped connecting to the rear fender. If someone is spending over 30k on a bike I would expect top notch. Everything should be double checked and looked at before you hand it over to the customer. Service department is extremely bad. would not recommend this place
I purchased a motorcycle from Reno’s Powersports KC about 6 months ago. Within ONE MONTH of ownership, the motor blew. Thankfully, I had purchased a warranty otherwise this would’ve been an even bigger nightmare. From there, it was nothing but lies, delays, and terrible communication. Every time I called for an update, I was told “it should be here in a day or two.” That same line was fed to me for weeks on end. What should’ve been handled reasonably took nearly FOUR MONTHS to complete. Then, while the bike was still there, I was told I “needed” new forks and a tire. I clearly said I’d think about it. Without my approval, they went ahead and replaced the tire anyway. When I questioned it, I was told it would cost me $200 just to take it back off — which is absolutely insane considering I never authorized the work in the first place. When I finally got my bike back after months of waiting and with a brand-new motor installed I noticed my chain was completely rusted. That raises serious concerns about how and where my bike was stored for months. Not only that, but no one bothered to recommend replacing the chain, even though it was clearly neglected while in their care. Between the constant false promises, unauthorized work, ridiculous charges, and obvious lack of care for my bike, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I would strongly recommend thinking twice before doing business here especially if you expect honesty, communication, or respect as a customer.
