Buying a boat from NC Marine in Semora, North Carolina? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask NC Marine which models suit the waterways near Semora, North Carolina.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at NC Marine.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like NC Marine will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. NC Marine should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
Marine financing has unique terms. Here is what to know before financing a boat through NC Marine in Semora, North Carolina.
Typical Loan Terms
10 to 20 years for larger boats. Smaller boats are typically financed over 5 to 10 years.

I’ve purchased well over 10 boats in my lifetime, and my last two have been from NC Marine for a reason. In an industry where customer service often falls short, these guys truly stand out. Kyle and his team made the buying process smooth and straightforward, and their after-sale service and support have been outstanding. Even with a 5-hour roundtrip drive, I’ll continue making the trip because the experience is worth it. Highly recommend NC Marine to anyone looking for a great boat and even better service.
Do NOT buy a used boat from these guys! Bought a used boat from them, told me it runs great and floats. Granted I did not expect a warranty on an old 30 year boat. But don't tell me that it floats, runs, great, and no scratches or dings on it. I'm a wounded Veteran that can't easily climb up under boats and probably should have had someone do it for me instead of taking their word for it. Took the boat out, (plug was in!)and started to take on water, and realized it when it wouldn't get up on plane. Felt sluggish like it had too much weight. It was only me and my son on the boat. Not heavy enough, so obviously I checked for water coming in the hull. Sure enough it was, luckily we made it back to the dock. There are four holes in the fiberglass hull! I can fix that. But the reason you shouldn't buy from them is the fact that when I called up there and talked to Tim, before I could finish explaining about the holes he cut me off and said "yeah we can't guarantee anything on used especially old used boats. It floated for us. Put some silicone on it!" Then said bye. Not once did he say I'm sorry, or try and come up with a solution like bring it up here and we'll put silicone on it since it needs to come off the trailer to do it. Well he didn't know enough about the problem to even suggest something like that. My fault for not climbing underneath, but if they will treat a Purple Heart veteran like this, they'll treat anyone like this! I took this boat out on Phelps lake, a sandy bottom lake. The pictures show that it was ran across some rock or something hard in a sideways manner.
Arrived on a Saturday after the parts department had closed. Mr Roberts in sales offered to help. He was able to find the part I needed and did it with a smile. I really appreciated the service and positive mind set from Mr Roberts and NC Marine Sales. Outstanding service. Thanks.
Ive reached out multiple times to there service department for service on my boat and did not even get a call or email back. Reached out to inland and they responded within about 48 hours. Needless to say I scheduled with them. I work in the automotive industry in service and we would not be in business long if we didn't respond to service requests
We have had the best experience with NC Marine!!!! They are very knowledgeable and very professional!! Everyone was very friendly and went beyond the call of duty! I highly recommend NC Marine for all your boating service work, warranty work, or your boat purchases!! I live one in a half hours away, but it is worth the drive. No one will ever service our boat but NC Marine. Thank you, to all their staff for the great service. I wish this review had 10 stars in stead of 5 stars, because they deserve 10 stars!
