Buying a boat from MarineMax Rogers in Rogers, Minnesota? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask MarineMax Rogers which models suit the waterways near Rogers, Minnesota.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at MarineMax Rogers.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like MarineMax Rogers will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. MarineMax Rogers should be able to walk you through the paperwork.

Beware: We originally bought a boat from a former employee of Marine Max who no longer works there. In fact, he was the very reason that we purchased the boat in the first place. After we bought the bought, we get a call from Marine Max one year later asking us if we want to buy another. When we would bring the boat in for service (Fall time), the prices were beyond irrational. And more than not, the excuses were made as to why what was paid for wasn't completed. In many cases we had to stay on them to do what they promised to do (For months in some cases). 2 years ago we waited for an extra hour waiting for the boat to be delivered. The manager up until last year was ridiculous (without taking responsibility), it was always on the customer if anything was wrong. The boat this last year was delivered filthy (Didn't even look like they covered the boat for the winter), scuff marks on the seats and a broken microphone handle. It took TJ 3 months (Of me staying on them) to get it taken care of, only to be blamed for what they were responsible for doing to the boat. People, it starts out good, then a quick turn for the worse happens real quick. In fact, Marine Max was the very reason that we sold the boat this year, wanted nothing to do with them anymore. You have been warned.
I've waited 6 months to post this review. I purchased a used Yamaha boat in October of 2024. Jason Chapman was my salesman. Great guy, great buying experience. Jason was very patient and quick to respond with answers to all of my questions. He told me my boat would be wrapped and stored till spring. I received pictures to show this when it was done. I arrived on May 5 to pick up our boat, the first time I'd seen it in person(we live in PA). The boat was in excellent condition, nicer than i had hoped. Jason and the staff at MarineMax were very helpful in getting the boat safely loaded onto my semi. All in all,a great experience with MarineMaxRogers, and specifically Jason Chapman. Go see him for your next boat!
We were looking for a used boat but ended up buying a new one from marinemax mostly because Dan Purgett (salesman) was so informative & helpful in finding the perfect fit for my family's boating wants & needs. Once we learned the quality that Sea Ray brings to the table when building their boats we didn't look any further. I have to mention that our salesman Dan Purgett went above and beyond twice for my family, he came in on his day off to help the service crew clean & prep the boat for us to pick it up earlier. After we bought the boat and took possession of it we used it once & had a minor problem and Dan drove an hour to my house, pulled the boat back to Rogers fixed the problem and brought it back to my house the next day, that was awesome. I'm 100% sure I will be well taken care in the future by the crew at Marinemax of Rogers.
I came to this location and literally walked around for over 40min not one person said hello. I wasn't even acknowledged in the least. Even if the selection was decent, the lack of acknowledgment is un-exceptable. When you're spending a good amount of money, service is everything. I purchased three boats here and am so glad I did. Having a long term relationship with a marina you can trust is so important. Danny service manager is honest, hardworking and a great guy. Mike Anderson sales is a perennial top salesman because he will do anything for just customers
