Buying a boat from Gull Boats & RV in Missoula, Montana? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Gull Boats & RV which models suit the waterways near Missoula, Montana.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Gull Boats & RV.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Gull Boats & RV will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Gull Boats & RV should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
Marine financing has unique terms. Here is what to know before financing a boat through Gull Boats & RV in Missoula, Montana.
Typical Loan Terms
10 to 20 years for larger boats. Smaller boats are typically financed over 5 to 10 years.
Down Payment
10% to 20% is standard. Some lenders require more for older vessels.

Gull Boats & RV in Missoula, MT was started in 1941 by Bob Anderson Sr., but back then it was simply called Gull Boats. Bob Sr. started by manufacturing boats, out of an incredible new-fangled material called fiberglass, in his parents' garage, where the Depot Deck is currently located. In those days, it was unheard of to be a landlocked boat manufacturer. Despite this (or because of it), his boats became a huge success. Soon, Gull's dealer network spread all the way to Florida. Word of the quality of his boats was spreading.
Great working with Dan and crew to purchase a used rv. Dan took the time to do a complete walk through of the camper and was upfront with all known issues. Made the process simple, easy, and fast. Would highly recommend taking a look at what they can offer.
Great experience with Dan at Gull. He took as much time as we needed, returned our calls quickly and answered all our questions. He was very personable and not pushy. Dan was an exceptional sales representative for Gull Boats.
Had a very good experience buying a new boat from Gull Boats. The salesman, Will, was very thorough. My husband & I came to pick up our 2003 Crestliner after spending $3,000 for repairs and yearly service work. We are leaving with a brand new 2025 18 ft. Lowe boat. Will is very knowledgeable and is very personable, yet professional. Thank Gull Boats!
No pressure at Gull. Great group of people there who like what they do - parts, techs, sales. Dan Gustin was the best. He kept the whole sales process fun! Perfect size camper for the fam with bunk beds. The name says it all: Sundance!
Excellent team across the board. Always patient, kind and knowledgeable. We love our Sea-Doo and our Ski-Doo machines! Thank you Gull Boats!
