I boat 2-3 times a week and the dock staff are always on top of everything, super polite and friendly, boats are extremely clean, couldn’t ask for better. For context, I have the weekday membership and have never had a problem getting a boat, even day-of. They also offer unlimited on the water training which is amazing!
We can enough say enough great things about Freedom Boat Club! We are first year members and it was a fantastic decision to sell our boat and join the club! Staff is always so competent and friendly. Hassan helped us out last night for an evening family sail. He is the best! Great club!
Joining Freedom Boat Club has been amazing! We love the “freedom” of reserving a boat and getting on the lake quickly. The staff we have interacted with have all been extremely helpful and friendly. We had our orientation class with Captain Jim and he was great and very informative! All in all, we are loving our membership!
Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. New boaters and they always take the time to answer any questions we have.
Freedom Boat Club at the Skipper’s location on Lake Norman is awesome. If you reserve a boat there, I sure hope that you get Michael because he is probably the best dockhand we’ve dealt with since we’ve joined the club. Thank you, Michael. Michael’s boss, please take good care of him. Lol. (Well, not really lol ☺️).

Buying a boat from Freedom Boat Club - Lake Norman in Cornelius, North Carolina? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Freedom Boat Club - Lake Norman which models suit the waterways near Cornelius, North Carolina.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Freedom Boat Club - Lake Norman.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Freedom Boat Club - Lake Norman will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Freedom Boat Club - Lake Norman should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
