I took my boat to Dry Creek Marine on Thursday for a simple motor swap. They told me it would be no problem and that it would be done by Saturday. After that, I didn’t hear a single word from them. No calls. No updates. Nothing. I finally called them on Monday and was shocked when they asked me, “What are we supposed to be doing to the boat again?” I had to re-explain everything, even though it was already discussed. It was just a basic motor swap and hooking up the controls. I specifically told them I did NOT want the motor water tested because I already knew the motor ran fine. I was then told I’d probably have it Tuesday, no later than Wednesday. Again, no updates unless I called. When I called back for another update, I was told they “figured out” they couldn’t mount the shifter. That was apparently news to them days later. Communication here is nonexistent — they do not call you, you have to chase them down for answers. When I picked the boat up, there was a $187 charge on the receipt for a motor test that I explicitly said I did not want. I paid in cash and wasn’t given any change back either. Once I got the boat home, I noticed even more issues. They broke my rear tie-down mount and cut the trim wires, then didn’t bother to rewire or fix anything. Just left it that way. Overall, this place is extremely unprofessional. Poor communication, unexpected charges, sloppy work, and zero accountability. I would not recommend Dry Creek Marine to anyone. Save yourself the headache and take your business somewhere else.
This will be a living review based on my experience, start to finish, with Dry Creek Marine. It will start with three stars and be adjusted as the process progresses. It will include details on initial contact, communication, pricing fairness without actual numbers, service quality if service is performed, etc. First, visited their website because I have a Bass Tracker with a 40hp Merc two-stroke that has been giving me idling fits. I chose Dry Creek Marine over Tennessee Valley Marine due to the convenience factor of them being much closer to my work. Both had excellent reviews. I seen that it said to give them a call to schedule service. So, I called them. I was told to just bring the boat, drop it off and they would put it in line. So, there was no actual "scheduling". Dropped the boat off first thing on a Thursday morning. They filled out a service ticket, asked me the details of what was going on with it as well as gave me drop off instructions such as leave trailer unlocked, the key in it, remove electronics and pull the plug. There was no estimate of how long it might take to get the boat looked at/diagnosed. As of the following Monday morning, there had not been any communication. With my being a huge fan of face-to-face interaction, I decided to stop through at 3:30pm on my way home from work. Unfortunately, the Parts Manager and other gentlemen behind the counter were not able to give me an update. They only said that the Service Manager wasn't there and they thought he had a couple of Bass Trackers he was working on back there. First Update: Received a call from Chris, the Service Manager, on Tuesday morning. He was pleasant enough to talk to. He gave me the diagnosis which was exactly what I expected it to be, and a very reasonable price to accomplish the work. It was reasonable enough that I asked him to replace the water pump and service the lower unit while they were at it. I asked him when he expected to get the work finished and the boat back to me. He said he was going to say Thursday for sure but could be as early as tomorrow. Bumped the review up to four stars. Second Update: Got the call that my boat was ready at 11am on Thursday morning. Went and picked it up at 11:30. I considered the price to be very fair considering what I had them do. A detailed ticket was given to me outlining everything that was done and the associated cost of eacn line item. So far so good. I will take it out this weekend and give one last update once I perform my own water test.
I can’t say enough good things about Dry Creek Marine in Morgan County! I was in town for a fishing tournament and ran into boat trouble that could have ended my tournament. These folks had me fixed up within hours and went above and beyond to make sure I could get back on the water. They were friendly, professional, and truly cared about helping me out. It’s rare to find service this quick and genuine. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs boat work done, you won’t find better people to take care of you!
I called them as soon as they opened , with a trim issue on my Sea Ark they told me to bring it over and they would get it looked at quickly, great service , great place to deal with I greatly appreciate them getting me back to where I could continue my vacation fishing!!! Will definitely be talking to them if I need a repair of possibly purchase a new boat, thanks again you guys are awesome.!!!!
The whole team at Dry Creek Marina were amazing. They treated us like family when we walked in and you would expect that from a dealership but that doesn't mean you always get it. We came to look at a really nice used Tahoe. Even though we were not looking at a new boat they stayed after hours to show us around and look at the boat we were interested in and never felt rushed or pressured. They offered paperwork showing the services they have been doing on the boat over the last several years and the mechanical status of the boat (runs like a sowing machine). Showed us the good, the bad, and the indifferent didn't hide anything just gave us the facts so we could make the best decision for us. Took us out on the water let us test it out and even threw in a few pieces of gear we were missing to get us water ready. If your looking for a boat go check it out for yourself couldn't hurt to stop in and see what they have.
