Buying a boat from Dalton Marine - Atlanta in Acworth, Georgia? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Dalton Marine - Atlanta which models suit the waterways near Acworth, Georgia.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Dalton Marine - Atlanta.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Dalton Marine - Atlanta will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Dalton Marine - Atlanta should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
Marine financing has unique terms. Here is what to know before financing a boat through Dalton Marine - Atlanta in Acworth, Georgia.
Typical Loan Terms
10 to 20 years for larger boats. Smaller boats are typically financed over 5 to 10 years.

10% to 20% is standard. Some lenders require more for older vessels.

Brought the outboard into the Acworth store for a water pump check on Monday November 18. Good weather predicted as I didn't want boat sitting out in the rain. Was told it would be ready to go by that Friday. Friday comes, haven't heard anything so I call. "Well, my Johnson man decided to stay deer hunting another week and he wasn't here this week but we'll get it for you next week" Called back on Monday to see if "the Johnson guy" had made it back and asked if be might wander in at some point and fix my motor before Thursday, Thanksgiving day. " Well," the old guy said, I'M NOT SURE IF LAMAR WILL BE IN THIS WEEK OR NOT". Well", I asked, does Lamar have a phone? Gave him a hour and went and collected my boat. What a piss poor operation! Employees can go deer hunting and leave your customers hanging? I missed several good fishing days. Management doesn't expect their employees to show up? And security was none existent. When I pulled in the front lot and started hooking the boat to my truck no body even came to see who I was or what I was doing. And since it had rained over that weekend, pumped about 10 gallons of water out of it.
Just bought a new Ranger RT188 from these folks. Was going to get it from Cabalas, but the people at Dalton Marine were really helpful, installed upgraded electronics that I had picked out, ordered a few extra items I wanted, all with no hassle. I made the right choice.
They always treat me very fair. I’ve been taking my boat for them to service it for several years now and I do recommend they’re service! Good family people. Thanks again! Gunther
The friendliest and most helpful of any of them!!!! And a great selection of some of the most beautiful boats that I've seen!
I think they're closed for good, shut down. Phone number "cannot be completed as dialed"
