Buying a boat from Central Georgia Marina in Macon, Georgia? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask Central Georgia Marina which models suit the waterways near Macon, Georgia.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at Central Georgia Marina.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like Central Georgia Marina will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. Central Georgia Marina should be able to walk you through the paperwork.
Marine financing has unique terms. Here is what to know before financing a boat through Central Georgia Marina in Macon, Georgia.
Typical Loan Terms
10 to 20 years for larger boats. Smaller boats are typically financed over 5 to 10 years.

Absolutely a great experience. All the staff where super helpful. Took my boat there for a repower. They ran out of stock on that outboard and was able to get it really fast before my short deadline to take it red snapper fishing. Dropped my boat off and had it installed and propped in 2 days ready to pick up. Any questions I had they knew the answer and explained it very well. Did not have to leave with any questions! This will be the only place I will let work on my boat! Thank you so much for the great sales and service!
Recently purchased my first boat, bayliner element 18 from here. Called on a Tuesday, told them what I wanted, my financing was in order and I can be there Saturday to pickup. Not one single issue! Communication was excellent and provided everything I needed for a smooth transfer. Susan and Bobby were awesome to work with and would highly recommend buying here. Thanks again ya’ll!
I called to buy a 150 xl. I have been researching Mercury's for a while and I talked to Mary Elizabeth they had the best price the best service on the East Coast and I definitely plan on buying my next motor from them it's well worth the 8-hour Drive thank you Mary Elizabeth
Excellent service and staffing. Very knowledgeable and helpful. I will be bringing all of my work here from now on. Even if they are booked up, I will wait until they can get to me before going anywhere else. Thank yall for helping me make it to the bahamas in 5 more days!
Dropped my boat off on May 1st. That is where the nightmare begins. They had my boats for almost 3 months with me calling multiple times before my boat was ready or so I thought. Picked up my boat on July 25th and get home with it to find that my boat straps were not on, my motor prop was not put back on, my calinder was just sitting on top of my motor with the seal laying in the back of my boat. My tag was also missing and there was nothing they could do after spending almost $1000. Horrible service from top to bottom. I would tell anyone with boat issues to avoid this place at all cost.
