Buying a boat from C & O Marine in White Bluff, Tennessee? Use this guide to evaluate any listing before you commit.
Match the boat to your waters
Pontoons and deck boats suit calm lakes. Deep-V hulls handle chop on larger lakes and coastal water. Center consoles are versatile for fishing. Ask C & O Marine which models suit the waterways near White Bluff, Tennessee.
Inspect the hull carefully
Look for stress cracks, blistering, or repairs on fiberglass hulls. Check the transom for soft spots by pressing firmly — a solid transom feels rigid. Osmotic blistering costs thousands to repair.
Check engine hours
Inboard and outboard engines are typically rated to 1,500–3,000 hours. Low-hour engines with service records are worth more. Ask to see oil change and winterization records for any boat at C & O Marine.
Request a sea trial
Test the boat on the water before buying. Run it at full throttle. Listen for unusual noises. Check that the throttle and steering respond smoothly. Reputable dealers like C & O Marine will accommodate this request.
Verify title and registration
Ask for the current title and confirm the hull identification number (HIN) matches. Check for any liens with your state boating agency. C & O Marine should be able to walk you through the paperwork.

Worst company I have ever bought anything from. Salesman was threatening to call my job and leave me a bad review for asking for my contract on a boat to be honored. Bought boat , every paper a different total , Parts not ordered, lies told , still waiting on install check for part .. promised by Van.. call no answer, text them no reply ... rude when you do call. Boat has been so bad experience I will be selling it to get out of looking at it in my yard and going back to how I was treated . Buying a hat from this place is a mistake. Zero stars .. Van and Mark you are both rude . You are not real men. If you need to call where I work and leave a bad review.. hit me up I will give u all the info.. Update .. still waiting for install check. Talked to owners son.. he passed me off back to mark. No call no show . . . I am still waiting. I have a cheap boat for sale cause every time I see it I get to thinking about the deal. . I never have had and issue like this . . Bass pro is better . . Mountain motorsports is amazing. This place sucks . . You better watch. They told me they got rid of Van.. but still no check. No resolve. . I offer to take a 4k bath for them to take the boat back .. or more... they never called back. . Sales is crappy . Never buy here.. run the other way. 5 phone calls., 5 weeks . Still waiting for a call back from owner or manager. They have no customer service skill at all.
I called for a trailer plug harness. I was lucky to get Milli on the phone. She was much more than I have ever had before anywhere. Took time sent me pictures, even went out to check another trailer on the lot to make sure it was the right one. C & O marine should be proud to have her on there team. She is an asset to C&O parts dept and C&O as a whole. Thank you Milli you went way beyond my expectation.
I can't say anything strong enough to explain how happy I am with this place. I just purchased a 2007 Aluminum Triton and everybody was above any expectations. I'm poor with names, but thank you, everyone. Much more than I ever hoped for! Pictures will be posted once daylight arrives again. Update 4 Jan 2025; This is by far the best retail/service type of business I have ever dealt with, and I'm 53 years old!
Called looking for a old part that for two years. Milly found it! It saved me alot of time and greef. Milly even done research to make sure it was capatible with mmyspecific year. Excellent and kind both communicating and professionalism. Thanks to Milly, I will be contacting this company for all that is needed in the future.
I had my boat at Co Marine for two full months for several issues, and the entire experience was disappointing from start to finish. I originally purchased the boat new in May. Within a couple of months, I noticed the trailer tires were badly dry-rotted. When I brought this up, Co Marine refused to replace them—despite the fact that they sold me a new trailer with deteriorating tires. After a long back-and-forth, the GM finally agreed to cover only 50% of the cost. At the same time, I scheduled service for a terrible grinding noise from the trailer and a non-functioning trim sensor. I had already brought the boat in twice before for that same trim issue, so this was the third attempt to fix it. I repeatedly asked for a video showing the trim sensor working before pickup (since I live far away), and was promised one multiple times—but never received it. After two full months, I went to pick up the boat. Despite being told it was ready, the process was disorganized—no one seemed to know what had been done or where my boat even was. When I finally saw it, I was extremely disappointed: it was filthy, filled with bugs, dirt, and water, and clearly hadn’t been covered despite their claim that it had been. The cover was still sitting in the same position I left it in, and even the sun-bleached can of Coke I left in the cup holder was still there. I was going to forgive everything and not leave a review until I noticed they let the battery die. When I got home and tried to start the engine, it wouldn’t even turn over—thankfully, I discovered that before getting on the water. Overall, the lack of communication, accountability, and care for the customer’s property was shocking. I do not recommend Co Marine. Save yourself the trouble and take your boat somewhere like Bass Pro Shops, where they actually stand behind their products and treat customers with respect.
