2025 Yamaha VX Deluxe Review: Mid-Tier Performance with Premium Features

    Overview

The 2025 Yamaha VX Deluxe sits in the middle of the VX lineup, and it earns its step-up price with tangible upgrades over the base VX Cruiser. The most significant addition is a longer, wider hull that improves stability—especially appreciated by taller or heavier riders—along with a full touchscreen display cluster.

    Extended Hull Platform

The VX Deluxe uses Yamaha's extended platform hull, adding roughly 10 inches of length compared to the standard VX Cruiser. This extends the rear boarding platform, provides more legroom for the driver, and creates a more stable riding platform when at rest or at low speeds.

    Engine & Performance

Power comes from the same TR-1 HO engine as the VX Cruiser, producing approximately 100 hp. The longer hull doesn't significantly affect top speed, which remains in the 53–55 mph range, but the improved stability at mid-speed cruising is a noticeable quality-of-life improvement for all-day riding.

    Technology & Instruments

The touchscreen multifunction display is the VX Deluxe's biggest differentiator. It shows GPS speed, fuel level, RPM, engine diagnostics, and Bluetooth audio controls on a bright, glare-resistant screen that's readable in direct sunlight. Yamaha's Ride system allows push-button reverse and no-wake speed mode.

    Towing Capability

With the longer platform providing additional stability, the VX Deluxe is a better tow platform than the standard VX Cruiser. It's capable of towing a single tube or tow-rope rider at appropriate speeds without becoming unstable.

    Bottom Line

The 2025 Yamaha VX Deluxe is the sweet spot in the VX lineup for riders who want more than basic transportation without stepping into premium pricing. The touchscreen display and extended platform alone justify the price difference over the base model.
