Shopping for a vehicle at Carter Chevrolet in Okarche, Oklahoma? Follow these steps to buy with confidence.
Pull the vehicle history report
Run a CARFAX or AutoCheck report using the VIN before you visit. Look for accident history, odometer rollbacks, and title brands like salvage or flood. Ask Carter Chevrolet if a report is available for any listing.
Take a thorough test drive
Drive on both city streets and the highway. Accelerate hard. Brake firmly. Listen for any clunks, vibrations, or warning lights. Test the AC, heat, and all electronics during the drive.
Inspect for hidden wear
Check for uneven panel gaps, mismatched paint, or overspray — signs of past bodywork. Push on each corner of the car to test the shocks. Look underneath for frame damage, fluid leaks, or rust.
Get a pre-purchase inspection
Have a trusted mechanic inspect any used vehicle before you buy. A $100–$150 PPI can uncover issues that save you thousands. Ask Carter Chevrolet if a third-party inspection is permitted.
Negotiate the out-the-door price
Focus on the total out-the-door price, not the monthly payment. Understand every fee on the sales contract before signing. Dealer add-ons like paint protection and VIN etching are negotiable at Carter Chevrolet.

Carter Chevrolet calls a quaint brick-front building it is home — it kind of looks a bit like a crockpot top, which is appropriate because we're always cooking up great deals. (And cheesy jokes.) When you walk in, you're going to see a bunch of guys in shorts hanging out or talking to folks or sitting at desks. Don't be startled. That's our team. No suits, no slacks, no pressed shirts. We keep it quite casual because that's the atmosphere we want to welcome you with. Did we mention that a lot of folks here have beards? Our team is one of the friendliest you'll find in OK or anywhere else. (Tha...
It was a great experience. It was a non-pressure sale environment. I did not feel like I was being forced into anything that I did not want. They were super friendly. They had a nice variety of very nice and clean vehicles. All the staff were super nice. I had my children with me and they even had a place for my kids to hang out and everybody again was super nice to my children. I would definitely do business again and I did make a purchase on a very nice Chevy.
Crystal (and everyone we met) was super nice, fun and professional. The car buying process was actually easy. They were honest, easy to talk to and trustworthy. We came away with a beautiful new (to us) killer Camaro! Thanks everyone!
I recently purchased a truck from this dealership, and the entire experience was beyond exceptional. Everyone there was friendly, made the process simple, and genuinely treated me like family. Hands down the best dealership in the entire state. A huge shoutout to Steven, he was absolutely awesome. He listened, helped me find exactly what I wanted, and made everything smooth from start to finish. If you’re looking for great service and people who truly care, this is the place to go.
Excellent service!I was in and out with a brand new Equinox in less than 3 hours. They were friendly, listened to my concerns, and went right to work. Awesome customer service! We will be back for my husband's truck!
I had to bring my truck back in for the third time to replace a tire pressure sensor. Normally that wouldn’t be a big deal, but I had all four sensors replaced earlier this year, and one of those had already failed as well. On top of that, I live 35 minutes away, so these repeated trips aren’t exactly convenient. After the second visit—when the service team didn’t put the correct air pressure in the tires—Brian, the service manager, told me he would “hook me up with some Escheins chicken” for the trouble. When I brought the truck back for the third time and mentioned that to Jeremiah, he basically laughed in my face. So I ended up buying my own chicken. I also asked Jeremiah to please make sure the tires were aired correctly this time. He said they would follow the sticker on the door. I told him clearly: 60 PSI in the front, 70 PSI in the rear. They still didn’t do it. The truck was returned to me with 55 in the front and 60 in the rear. I noticed the pressures when I picked it up but didn’t compare them to the sticker until today. The buying experience with Trevor has been great on both vehicles we’ve purchased, but when you spend well over $100,000 on vehicles, you expect the service department to match that level of quality. Brian did call and leave a message apologizing, and I appreciate that, but this whole experience has been extremely frustrating.
