Shopping for a vehicle at Bill Hood Ford in Hammond, Louisiana? Follow these steps to buy with confidence.
Pull the vehicle history report
Run a CARFAX or AutoCheck report using the VIN before you visit. Look for accident history, odometer rollbacks, and title brands like salvage or flood. Ask Bill Hood Ford if a report is available for any listing.
Take a thorough test drive
Drive on both city streets and the highway. Accelerate hard. Brake firmly. Listen for any clunks, vibrations, or warning lights. Test the AC, heat, and all electronics during the drive.
Inspect for hidden wear
Check for uneven panel gaps, mismatched paint, or overspray — signs of past bodywork. Push on each corner of the car to test the shocks. Look underneath for frame damage, fluid leaks, or rust.
Get a pre-purchase inspection
Have a trusted mechanic inspect any used vehicle before you buy. A $100–$150 PPI can uncover issues that save you thousands. Ask Bill Hood Ford if a third-party inspection is permitted.
Negotiate the out-the-door price
Focus on the total out-the-door price, not the monthly payment. Understand every fee on the sales contract before signing. Dealer add-ons like paint protection and VIN etching are negotiable at Bill Hood Ford.
Auto financing is competitive. A little preparation before visiting Bill Hood Ford in Hammond, Louisiana puts you in a stronger position.
Typical Loan Terms
48 to 72 months is most common. Shorter terms cost less in total interest.

went inside ford dealership just to look met a young man named Terrence rimpson he was a blast to deal with made me whole family feel so relaxed that we bought 3 new vehicles from him my grandson still talks about him just a knowledgeable young man who seems to like his job and helping people get what they want
This has been the worse car buying experience I’ve ever had. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. These crooks never paid off the vehicle that I traded in. So another payment has been taken from my checking account. Between my wife and I, we’ve made multiple attempts to contact the dealership, but nobody has the decency to return a phone call. We’ve called and texted, but nothing. Every single thing that we’ve experienced with them has been a disaster. They ruined the finish on the first car that I got. They also filed for a car loan with 2 different companies. When you make a mistake, own it!
The service department at this location is the worse you can experience. They are so quick to take your money when you buy a car but to honor a warranty, that’s a different story. I will never do business at this location again, including purchase of a new vehicle. ( stay away from Bill Hood Ford )
Don’t make the same mistake as me. I gave this dealership $700 for nothing. Had my car’s coolant overheat and took it here since I had a ford warranty still. They took 3 days to have a technician diagnose the problem. When they finally did, the part they needed was not covered under warranty, and originally quoted me over $500 for the fix. After a week and 2 days from when it was dropped off, they had it “fixed”. When I went to pick it up, they wanted to charge me almost $1000 for the fix. After lowering it to $730, I paid and left headed back home on an 8 hour road trip. Two and a half hours into the drive, I find out it was not fixed, and took it into another car shop to have it fixed. Being out of state, I’ve had to rent a car to drive home while it was in the shop, take a flight back into town and an uber ride to the dealership all to deal with the logistical nightmare of my mistake taking my car here.
I took my 23 explorer in to get a noise checked. They told me it would take a day or two. It’s been a week. They keep telling me they had to order more parts. The service rep is not communicating with me about the status of my vehicle. Getting info is like pulling teeth. A loaner or rental has not been provided. What was supposed to be a simple job has turned into a nightmare of a process. I will no longer do business with bill hood ford in Hammond.
