We bought a 2008 Toyota Camry in November 2024 for $8,000. It needed some cosmetic repairs, but otherwise it seemed like a great car. In June, the air conditioner had to be repaired (over $500). Last month the exhaust system needed repairs (over $700). Then two weeks ago, the transmission went out. We had to have it towed, and the mechanic had to remove the transmission to diagnose the problem and fix as much as they could ($2,000). The flywheel came detached and spun into the transmission, and there is possibly damage to the engine as well. The transmission has to be replaced ($4,000), and that doesn’t include any potential damage to the engine. Come to find out, the engine isn’t the original, and this detail was not disclosed when we purchased the vehicle. So in approximately a year, we put $12,000 into a car that isn’t even worth repairing. Ben’s sold us a vehicle that wasn’t worth the money we paid. We thought they were trustworthy, but they fooled us.
