Shopping for a vehicle at AM Auto Sales in Belton, Missouri? Follow these steps to buy with confidence.
Pull the vehicle history report
Run a CARFAX or AutoCheck report using the VIN before you visit. Look for accident history, odometer rollbacks, and title brands like salvage or flood. Ask AM Auto Sales if a report is available for any listing.
Take a thorough test drive
Drive on both city streets and the highway. Accelerate hard. Brake firmly. Listen for any clunks, vibrations, or warning lights. Test the AC, heat, and all electronics during the drive.
Inspect for hidden wear
Check for uneven panel gaps, mismatched paint, or overspray — signs of past bodywork. Push on each corner of the car to test the shocks. Look underneath for frame damage, fluid leaks, or rust.
Get a pre-purchase inspection
Have a trusted mechanic inspect any used vehicle before you buy. A $100–$150 PPI can uncover issues that save you thousands. Ask AM Auto Sales if a third-party inspection is permitted.
Negotiate the out-the-door price
Focus on the total out-the-door price, not the monthly payment. Understand every fee on the sales contract before signing. Dealer add-ons like paint protection and VIN etching are negotiable at AM Auto Sales.
Auto financing is competitive. A little preparation before visiting AM Auto Sales in Belton, Missouri puts you in a stronger position.
Typical Loan Terms
48 to 72 months is most common. Shorter terms cost less in total interest.
Down Payment

Just a little home town dealer that takes great pride in choosing inventory that meets expectations of now and future clients. Not in the business to make a quick buck, but to create life long friends that trust in where to go to get a decent vehicle without searching the entire web and getting dissapointed! Everyone knows that if its too good to be true....it probably is! Even if you dont buy from us, we will point you in the right way...just honesty!
My son purchased a 1995 Lexus LS 400 for his first car, and we could not have been happier with AM auto’s service. From start to finish the group from AM auto were top notch, and they seriously went above and beyond to make sure my son was happy. I can’t express my thanks and appreciation for how they dealt with my son in buying his first vehicle. Highly recommend AM auto if you are looking for a used car.
Buyer Beware- They have no problem sending you off their lot with 1 mm rear brakes and rotors that can't be turned. When questioned about it over the phone, Steve hides behind the fact MO state inspection only requires a mechanic take off one wheel and check one brake pad and the sale was cash "as-is". Which is odd MO allows that by the way. If AM Auto were anything like their motto claims on their website of, and I quote, "just a little hometown dealer that takes great pride in choosing inventory that meets expectations of now and future clients...looking to create lifelong friends that trust in where to go to get a decent vehicle." I certainly won't trust them again. There has been no follow-up from an email I sent asking both Andrew and Steve if either one of them would be comfortable sending their college age daughter out on the road with 1MM rear brakes... crickets from either one of them. No follow-up. To be fair, we have purchased a used vehicle from them in 2021. Ford f-150 that was a solid car. They also looked at the coolant in the Highlander we purchased the following day when I noticed the coolant level was showing empty after I got home from purchasing the car from them. I added about a quart and it was just low. They verified that. However our most recent experience most definitely calls into question their integrity if they won't even check all the brake pads and verify what any mechanic worth their salt would do before sending someone out on the road. Its unfortunate. Make sure and check anything you buy from them. They aren't what their website claims for sure. Signed - a father with 9 kids who owns 5 used cars. Note- They just now responded to the google review and they are full of crap. Don't know if Steve or Andrew replied. Say they would have thrown on brakes... they never responded to my first direct email complaint to them. I also called and talked to Steve on the phone. No such offer made. Point is they don't care and if they did, the inspections they run would have required new brakes and rotors. They are dishonest as the day is long on this transaction. Buyer beware. I will NEVER be back.
I bought a car in the morning that was supposed be in great condition. That same night while I was driving it, the engine light came on. I found out that the car needed a new catalytic converter. I reached out to the dealership immediately, but they said that it wasn’t covered in the warranty, so they wouldn’t do anything. Not long after that, the brake system and VSA lights came on, and the E-brake light was on all the time, even when the E-brake was off. I’ve spent thousands to get this car fixed, and I’ve only had it for a few months, after I was promised that it was in great condition.
I would highly recommend going and having the vehicle you are buying inspected. They have no problem sending you off the lot with low transmission, and stating no majors issues, while having the transmission problems the next, and a permanent check engine light coming on. I would highly suggest getting it inspected or just going someplace else.
Bought a 2012 Silverado 1500 from them. Everyone I talked to was very nice. The truck had a coolant line fail while test driving it which they quickly replaced along with replacing the fitting and clamp. Bought the truck 2 days later and shortly after buying it the check engine light came on. Called them and with no hassle at all they had me bring the truck back, scanned the obd2, which showed that the MAP sensor was bad. They ordered the new sensor and had me back on the road in 15-20 minutes. Unfortunately they got a bad sensor from NAPA and the check engine light came back on. They offered to reimburse me if I had to buy a new sensor along with asking if I was still in the area to bring it back for them to put another sensor on. They sent me the receipt for the sensor which I was able to provide to NAPA to get a new sensor. Will update in 6 months after I have drove the truck a bit more!
