Shopping for a vehicle at 1st Stop Auto in West York, Pennsylvania? Follow these steps to buy with confidence.
Pull the vehicle history report
Run a CARFAX or AutoCheck report using the VIN before you visit. Look for accident history, odometer rollbacks, and title brands like salvage or flood. Ask 1st Stop Auto if a report is available for any listing.
Take a thorough test drive
Drive on both city streets and the highway. Accelerate hard. Brake firmly. Listen for any clunks, vibrations, or warning lights. Test the AC, heat, and all electronics during the drive.
Inspect for hidden wear
Check for uneven panel gaps, mismatched paint, or overspray — signs of past bodywork. Push on each corner of the car to test the shocks. Look underneath for frame damage, fluid leaks, or rust.
Get a pre-purchase inspection
Have a trusted mechanic inspect any used vehicle before you buy. A $100–$150 PPI can uncover issues that save you thousands. Ask 1st Stop Auto if a third-party inspection is permitted.
Negotiate the out-the-door price
Focus on the total out-the-door price, not the monthly payment. Understand every fee on the sales contract before signing. Dealer add-ons like paint protection and VIN etching are negotiable at 1st Stop Auto.
Auto financing is competitive. A little preparation before visiting 1st Stop Auto in West York, Pennsylvania puts you in a stronger position.
Typical Loan Terms
48 to 72 months is most common. Shorter terms cost less in total interest.
Down Payment

This place is awesome. I had a blow n go installed here and they really did a great job. I hear a lot of horror stories about other places. Constant issues with their devices. Cars not starting, draining batteries. I didn't experience any of that. It worked everyday with no issues. These folks are friendly and flexible. If you have to get a blow n go I highly recommend 1st Stop.
Had head gasket replaced there. Told me if I drop it off Sunday night I would get it back Thurs or Fri. So I cleaned out my important stuff Sun night before I dropped it off. Then I got my truck back the following Mon. $1650. As soon as I got in & started it a light on my dash was flashing. Oh but they test drove it. The light indicated a transmission problem. They peaked at, ran next door to Anderson's. Probably to ask what was wrong with my truck. I could drive it home & bring it back on Tuesday & they would look at it better. It didn't shift right going home. Took it back the next day. I had to leave it overnight. So I went to get some paperwork out of my truck. My trim below the back passenger door was bowing. Broken clips. Oh but they didn't do it. Yet it was not like this when I dropped it off. I said you must have lifted it wrong. "Your frame is welded". Yeah I know!! I went back Wed to get my truck. A sensor mysteriously broke. But the truck never had a transmission issue. I got handed another bill. I asked if there was a warranty. The mechanic said "on my work". Then I noticed my thermostat kept rising so I kept an eye on fluid levels. I called. They said I could bring it in & they would look at it. And what, charge me again?!! I called my regular mechanic. Then it blew gray smoke pulling out at about 700 miles on the new head gasket. I checked the fluids. Ok. Then at 850 miles on the new head gasket I checked the oil yet again. 2 quarts low!!! I do not recommend taking any vehicle there!! I should have taken it to Leedy near Thomasville. Their estimate was $400 higher but it would have been worth it. I don't have another $2000 for another major repair.
Bobby and Chris have been the best, most honest mechanics I have ever known. They are flexible and honest and are the most affordable full service garage in the area. Nothing against the name brand garages on Rte 30, but 1st Stop Auto is the epitome of a hidden gem!
Great place to do business. We send our company vehicles there all the time. Glad there are still places that are actually concerned about their customers
Great Service! These people care about their customers and do great work at a very competitive rate. They knew I needed an oil change and called me to schedule my appointment. I was in and out in under a half hour. Great company and great people!
