Southern California motorcycles began as a dream of its owner, Tom Hicks, to build and open a different kind of motorcycle dealership. Tom's long career in the motorcycle industry started in 1976. He was the president of a local motorcycle club and started a small motorcycle service shop in his own garage. Tom soon had more work than he could handle due to his philosophy of quality customer service and his attention to detail. In 1980, Tom joined American Honda as a motorcycle technician and quickly moved through the Customer Relations department, Motorcycle Engineering department, and on to Motorcycle Product Research. There, he was able to utilize his talents introducing new models to the press, handling product evaluations, public relations, and even set seven world motorcycle endurance speed records.
