Whether they knew him or not, everyone always called my father "Grandpa" and still do today! It must be because he looks the way you would imagine a grandfather to look. Perhaps it's the gentle blue eyes and the beard tinged with auburn...or maybe it's the hat and the workman's overalls he always wears. Maybe, his honesty and dignity...or the pride he takes in a product that carries his family name. He has always had the wisdom and ethics that take most of us a lifetime to develop...the traits that are the foundation of a great, and growing family business. As our family sat around the dining room table one afternoon in 1995 trying to come up with a name for our marine business everyone laughed when my 10 year old nephew said, "Let's call it Grandpa's!" The name stuck. Today our business, located in Greensboro, North Carolina, is about making the excitement of boating affordable. Our family's memories of weekends spent at our lake cabin...boating from dawn to dusk...are some of our best memories. We want everyone to have the same opportunity to enjoy boating.
